I’m posting these because they are comfortable and size 12 wide Classic shoes are not within my budget.
These are 10.5 Wide with a insole I picked up at REI that makes them stiff enough on MKS touring with MKS clips.

I spent an hour or so reading this thread and checking the linked web sites. As usual, I got nowhere.
Giro no longer makes their Republic model and my current pair are beginning to degrade.
Last time I bought shoes (the Giro Republics), it took a long time to find what I thought was a reasonable shoe that fit properly. My first guess at the proper size for those Giros was wrong, which I discovered only by trying them on.
Even after buying them, I ended up removing the rubber "lugs" from the soles of the shoes, grinding the sole flat and gluing a thin rubber sole over the front. Although it was not too difficult, it was a lot of work.
I then discovered I needed different clips for the pedals because the Republic has a very tall toe box that does not fit traditional clips.
I also remember sending multiple emails and web site contacts to Detto Pietro trying to buy a pair of their shoes, to no avail. I sent them in English and Italian but never got a single response.
(sigh)
All that just for a pair of shoes.

I've found Magliamo to be very responsive. I sent them an email last night inquiring when my size "Classic Corsa" shoe will be back in stock. There was an email response waiting for me when I got up this morning.

I bought these used from forumite BertoBerg about a year ago and they quickly became my favorite shoes for rides when the weather is decent. Shoes from SteelVintageBikes.
The shoes are size 45 and run bigger than those comparable in Sidis. I wear an 11 in US size and these are a roomy...more like an 11.5 which is fine by me since I like to wear them loose anyways.
The soles are nice and thin and the leather is thin and very supple. Very nice shoes, I'd pay retail for these If'n when I need replacements. I never wear them in the rain or in cold weather.
