Can't disagree with any of this. I thought I was being a stickler for form too!

I've been trying to do a single leg squat for a while. I'm still not even remotely close.

I can barely go down to chair level and back up without grabbing something. It's a strange sort of frustration.

yeah I hear you.

what are you doing with the other leg? If I point it in front I'm lost. But if I flamingo it, I'm good.

I like these too, though I'm not doing them now, since I opted for step ups.

Rubik, you could try a single leg bench squat.

Been off the bike completely since Friday due to a nasty cold which flared up my asthma real bad. Hoping to be cleared of my congestion and fatigue by the weekend so I can start training again.

... I should go to the gym again...

Feeling healthy again. Little cough left, but I finished off my antibiotics today. Looking forward to being done with them! Today was 3x20 at sweetspot. Had to backpedal for about 30seconds at about 17minutes into the last interval.. Probably could have made it, but that's me talking afterwards.

5x10 @ 94% (249w), definitely could have done longer intervals at this intensity, hopefully an early sign of some additional gains coming my way

So after my calf strain healed, and limping on my wood floor gave me a case of plantar fasciitis. Being taking it easy since last Friday with icing and less walking. Only thing i could do was plenty of pullup variations with a door pullup bar. Today i'll attempt 1 hr easy spin since it doesn't hurt if I ride. Seems like turning 40 ya body just breaks down easier

oof, that sucks. I've had two bouts of PF. Both lasted around 5 months; I just got over the most recent one. The only combination of things that seem to have gotten me past it were continual stretching throughout the day, sleeping in a boot and deep tissue massages in my calves.

2.5 hours before work this morning.

First time this season (it's basically 2018 already for me!) that I've done the early-morning thing. It was cold but clear out.

I tried leaving work early a few times, but the sun's already behind the trees at 3-3:30 so unless I'm out at 12 it's not really worth it. Riding at night in rush hour is somehow way worse than morning rush hour.

people might be pissy about driving to work, but at least they have had coffee. At night they are tired and maniacally driving home to begin drinking

At night I either do the crit loop or the Sunset loop. Both have little traffic and the locals expect to see cyclists. I don't think I'd just go out at night and ride random roads.

Did Sunset x3 today and climbed my little hill on my brunch and tea time breaks. Super cold.

When I was in college and could afford to go to bed late I enjoyed going out for the occasional night ride after died down. Whipping the city on a fixed when it's dark and quiet was a lot of fun. Now a days in Utah where I trust the drivers less and have a Job early in the morning, I don't think I'd dare.

60 minutes today with 45 minutes of sweet spot. Had a few moments where the lungs were giving up on me. Still coughing from being sick and doing everything to get over it.

Then met up with a friend who flew into slc for a beer and dinner. Ordered the Full suspension Pale Ale. I've never had a beer with a bike on the label that I don't like. Off season!

I can attest that riding late at night can be quite enjoyable. However, I think my last experience with this was on a bike share bike in Boston. It was late on a weeknight, and I was not totally sober.

+1. I find motorists to be much more courteous in the morning as well. For this reason (and whatever) people are understandably tired and irritated after work. You're much more likely to get cut off or endangered in the evening,

Agreed. The exception to this rule is the elementary school drop off zone.

did an hour today with a series 6min sweet spot intervals

just saw this in an article on trainingpeaks that linked to table of suggested weekly tss and ctl by category, i'm at 50 ctl now so I should be golden for the cat 5 races (sarcasm). outside of a racing perspective, though, i have felt in the past that I was in "good shape" (like riding a lot recreationally without feeling too gassed) at around the mid 60's

Sorta doing a mini rest period at beginning of each week and loading on the weekends a little more every weekend. Aiming for 4 with 3x30 tomorrow, 3hrs friday of high z1 low stress saddle time, then 5hrs sat and sun of z2ish type games.

Thanks! Yeah, was always trying with the leg out. That flamingo thing makes it a lot more manageable. Still not complete, but better!

Two PF? How did that happen? The stretching and icing seems to work plus easy 1.5 hrs bike rides on a trainer to avoid hitting holes or bumps outside. Life is funny, been avoiding trainer rides forever but now it's the only way
got a night boot today, we'll see how that holds. Saw lots of diff stretches from hip to calf online.

The weekly hours for 1/2 are utterly insane (700-1000!!). Do most world tour pros even do that? 105-120 CTL seems about right I guess. I typically hover around 95-100ish but I don't do many road races and no stage races.

But for those hours and CTL to correlate, you'd have to be doing a metric ton of slow-as- hell riding. No thanks.
