Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Im pretty sure he is referring to people in cars, but if you are insecure and a bit elitist, I can see how it will be read another way.

well thanks for clearing that up, the end of that sentence was grammatically ambiguous and left me with a big "WTF?" feeling. the person that wrote that can't write a short snippet of a review to save his life.

my first thought of someone riding a mass produced mountain bike brand's rendition of a track bike built for the streets is probably not going to be a positive one... hey! that's just me. maybe they're an intelligent desk worker with a knack for corporate culture and a business degree, who am i to judge?

He's a winner though, no doubt about that:

So I’m changing tact on what I want to do with this blog. I’m going to take on a new handle for how I will be known. So the only people that will know that I am in fact ‘Manifold Man’ will be my friends, family, and those of you who are aware of my method or marketing in the city in which I live. It shouldn’t be too hard for those intrigued enough to figure out first where I am living, and second what it is that I do to get my name out there. So this is only the beginning. If you like or dislike what I’m doing, let me know. I would really appreciate feedback with my reviews, my thoughts, and any of my writing. Also I will try to post corrections as I become aware of any errors that I make in whatever I post.

It Begins:

"If you live in the suburbs, a single speed bike is what you want. Allowing minimal maintenance, clean looks, and is fast as hell; you’ll be flying past cars as you are up and in the coffee house before the honeys are even there to holler at. The Gary Fisher Triton is one sweet bicycle, sporting Bontrager crap components, and bullhorn style handlebars, flip-flop hub that lets you go from either single speed to fixed gear, or have a different gear ratio on both sides. This bike will get you laid. You will also be accepted into teh singlespeed/fixie culture and marked as hip, trendy, and way more badass than those kids in traffic."
