Your's was a gift. You take it no matter what and appreciate the effort of the giver. I have a black frame that was also given to me. Black and white are my least favorite main colors for autos, bikes, etc. The paint is a little faded. I built it up to look like the Interceptor in the Mad Max series. Black everything, not much shiny. I even took a Sharpie and blacked out the logos on the components. I call it the Road Warrior.
Sounds awesome. I plan on adding a little color to this bike eventually.

BTW, I noticed your Strava from your Richmond ride you posted in the Addiction thread. Looks like you might have done the Riverside/Cherokee/Old Gun route. On the north end of the Huguenot bridge is a road named Westham Station. You can take that road which becomes Ridge Road. That's a nice climb. When you hit Westham Parkway which goes off to the right, you can turn around. Or, you can continue on Ridge or Westham Parkway all the way to Patterson. Turn right on Patterson, and it will take you all the way back into Carytown with 2 lanes on each side. Also, as your transitioning from upper Riverside to lower Riverside in Westover Hills, you can go across the Nickel bridge and ride Pump/Pumphouse Road. That's another nice climb that ends in that park close to the Carillon. You can turn around, or keep going north into the Carytown/Blvd area.

Also, if your wife has half marathon aspirations, Richmond has a new event for 2024 that goes along some of the Riverside route you were riding. Hard to beat the scenery. You should recognize it in the promo video.

Appreciate it. I was just following the route my buddies led. It was nice, and def want to get back up there. Talking to the wife about trying to get up there twice a month. Would like to explore some more. Thought I knew Richmond, I was mistaken.

My Colnago is the VIP 2000, not the Dream. It's a slight step down (Altec tubes). It is the smoothest riding aluminum frame I've ever ridden.

my final entry of this bike, seat dropped a little, biggie smalls, dark background located (on a cloudy day), front valve stem appears to be a degree off
the irridescent aspect of the paint don't really show in the overcast skies, but i'm warming up to the color, having only previously owned matte black bicycles.

2024 Madone SLR7 (stock color "Axinite Flip") with Aeolus RSL51 wheelset and a Selle SMP Composit saddle...
I did my best to find a neutral background. The brown garage door was the best I could do while still getting a decent photo.
I think she's super hot, but I know some will hate the aesthetics of the saddle as well as the gravity cap on the stem for my head unit. Others may frown upon the single 15mm spacer. Then there's the group that simply finds the design of the current Madone (with the IsoFlow seat tube) to be an abomination . It's all good, I can handle it .

Rest of it? Nope.
Tubes that big on a bike that small look like it's a fat squatty bike, despite knowing it is fast and awesome.
The giant fat stem has the same issue. I really don't care that you have spacers- I have spacers on my bikes and I think bikes with spacers can look great. It's the massive size of the aero style sheadset/spacers/stem that don't look good.
Same for the fork- I get that it's aero shaped, but the legs are so wide on such a small bike, it just adds to the squatty look.
Glass houses and all though- I am 6'5 and fully understand that proportions mean nothing I ride is hot.

Why the trend of single cages I've seeing? (Not directed at you, just the latest one I've seen)

not sure ! i’ve never considered having two or wanted two, and i think it looks cleaner this way. i don’t ride in super hot weather and one bottle plus a market/cafe stop in a 60-100 mile ride has always been sufficient. but i’m not sure if that’s the same logic other single-cagers have!

Checkpoint Road Edition. I think I have done everything I planned on with this bike, Only thing left is to chop the periscope but I am not in a rush. I have not done much gravel and just want to make sure with more technical stuff I am happy with it. Other than the periscope, what say you.

Black is boring. Plus I have black bikes. Wife was with me when I picked up the bike, I asked her what cages. She picked the purple, personally I liked the purple with the champagne color, but I might change the cages for supacaz oil slick cages.
The tape is supacaz oil slick. In all the pictures that I saw before I purchased, it appeared more purple than what ever mine is. Of course mine looks green and not purple.
If I could find a tannish brown cage, I would consider it, Supacaz makes a star fade with brown that would prolly match. I don’t plan on getting rid of this bike any time soon, so can always change the theme whenever.

'17 Colnago CR-S. Definitely outdated compared to what's available now, but I still think it looks and rides great. Hard to believe this bike stickered for like $2500 and I paid $1250 for it brand new IIRC. Granted I upgraded the brake calipers to 5800 to make it a true, full 5800 bike and tossed on 5800 pedals and Zondas, but I don't think you could touch this bike today for anywhere near what I paid for it.

'17 Colnago CR-S. Full 5800 rim brake bike with Zondas and a frame that supports only a 28mm max tire width. It's definitely outdated compared to what's out there today, but I still love it as much as the day I got it and I think it still looks great. Yeah I have spacers, I'm not fit. A great bike for $1250 or whatever I paid for it brand new marked down from the $2500 or so MSRP (upgraded brake calipers to 5800 as they were the only non-5800 component, went with 5800 pedals, and put on Zondas and 8000 internal cam skewers. Bottle cages are Specialized Rib Cage II. What you can't see is the black and red Wahoo Elemnt Bolt that even matches the bike).

I’ve gone through two 22 ounce bottles at the half way point of a 40 mile ride - after downing a water bottle before the ride
and 88 ounces of water apparently was not enough - because the pain I was experiencing was later diagnosed as a kidney stone
you know whatz notz hotz ? a kidney stone !

Never had two cages on my Madone. Seat tube is too narrow at the front so the paint will probably chip, don’t want the extra weight and I can get by with one bottle (850ml) for anything up to 80 miles as long as it’s not 30°C or something and there are always shops & garages if it comes to it.
