Trying to find the new "tik ... tik ... tik" that may or may not be on the NDS crank arm somewhere.

If memory serves it is just under 60cm. Can't check right now, as the aforementioned tall friend is now very happy with it.

Busted my ankle a few days ago but still went out for a short ride today as the weather was just too nice.

Back home I took the Sturmey Archer pulley wheel out of its WD40 bath and went to work with a brass brush.

Before

After

There is definitely some pitting from the rust but all in all it cleaned up nicely. I should probably polish and wax these a bit more to keep them nice or give them a spray of clear coat.

I did a chilly (for SoCal ) 8 mile ride on the old Legnano. Then, while watching the Daytona 500, mounted a couple of new Paselas on new wheelset rebuild. Need to swap over freewheel, and try them out, but endless yellow flag crashfest is slowing me down.

My Legnano with mismatched wheelset, ugly grey spokes.

New wheelset, matching Legnano branded Campy hubs, new rims, new Paselas, endless Daytona 500.

Trying to get some Suntour Superbe 1984 shift levers to act Superbe. Left shifter had a buggered up convex compression disk thingy that I replaced with a Campy one. Seems ok.

At any rate, sunny dry days are rare here right now, as are times to get out in them (aka the weekends), so a dingy indoor picture will suffice of my two-weeks-already-complete newest and very beautiful Cannondale. We recently got new paint, new carpets, and new LED lighting. Guess who can't see that paint and carpet as well before? All the tenants!!!

Can't wait to ride this one. More and better pictures to follow, and in different threads.

Thanks! I digitally encouraged a few things slightly, in the pursuit of better accuracy. It's dry at work here, which hopefully means it's dry at home so I can actually test ride it finally.

I retensioned the wheels on my Turbo tonight. Amazed that the spokes, nipples, and eyelets cooperated on these 35 year old wheels.

It is something a bit more than a cycling computer. In the background you'll see those black boxes that have the Campagnolo script on them. On the back of one looks like a bunch of drawings of plugs (like, plug-into-walls plugs). Then you read the writing on that hanging plastic 'box', namely the letters "EPS" (the other words are harder to make out depending on your screen). The bike you see is my '74 Paramount...still with some downtube shifters on it, but...they're not staying on the bike. Campagnolo is going back on the bike, but it's not the kind that you think (certainly not the vintage kind). You see where this is going, and why it may be considered blasphemy.

I will either continue my original Paramount build thread, or simply start a new one. I'll see what people think--could be cool to see more people do it in the future.

Hehehe, indeed! As far as I know this is from around 2013 or so. Campy is onto "V3" of their EPS and this one that I got mostly complete (for a song) is V1. Naturally it plays with only V1 (actually a V2 battery in some cases, if you believe some of the internet), and the only other V1 EPS system it plays with is Chorus. Record and Super Record have their own unique connectors, because of course they do.

The trick for all of this will be to route the cables and bundle the extra lengths in a clean, stealthy way. I chose the Paramount for its rebel theme from the start [of my ownership of it] as well as the satin/matte black paint as it would be able to hide things. The battery/brain is bulky, but all V1s are like that. V2 and V3 shrank it and put it into the seat tube and/or seat post.

Full mechanical systems get a pass on exposed cables (STI setups included) due to the fact that that's how it's always been and all the cables/housings are in tension aka not looking floppy. All electronic shifting just has limp, floppy wires that can't help but look disheveled unless the owner/builder hides them internally or cleans up the setup somehow. This is obviously a bit more difficult with traditional diameter tubes.

I just need to find/buy an 11-speed cassette. Can't find any used ones locally at my favorite places, so new it is. I'm still galaxies ahead as far as groupset cost, so it's justifiably "ok" monetarily. I've always wanted to try the new Campy Ergo hood shape, and this does the trick. The brake levers paired with the Shimano standard reach calipers feels wonderful, I must say. I am excited for all of this!

I’m visiting DC AND went to a nearby coop. I wish there were coops in Dallas.

My old Miche pedals were missing the hard or impossible to find washer that sits between the adjusting nuts on outside of axle. Culled it off a solo pedal.

While there scored a nice Cinelli Giro d’Italia bar never used and two Dura Ace 7800 brakes just like on my 2005 Roubaix. Bought them all because they were so pristine and inexpensive.

My current Giro bar has an indent under the stem clamp where PO honked it too tight. It is the very early shield and crest logos so will keep it till I have a problem.

Had a great time digging through things.

Rain = wrenching.

1. Tried to go Superbe Pro shifters on my Comp TA, but the bosses aren't playing, so I polished the 600EX and put 'em back.
2. Got hoods for my 7400 levers and re-installed them on a Bob Jackson, re-cut the housing and one cable, and am finally satisfied with the look.
3. Tore down a Centurion Turbo, cleaned up what parts I could and ziploc'd them for future use. Started on the frame rehab. It needs a lot.
4. Finished for the day and began drinking, because I just invented the verb "ziploc'd."
5. Listening to the 6-album box set Atlantic Blues.
