Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Okay, time for a post-shoveling beer and then I'm going to stop putting off that brake bleed job.

For real this time.

I mean it.

Maybe.

Maybe.
Try this: Take the cap off, fill the tiny reservoir, leave the cap off, slowly apply the brake about 5-6 times, then go progressively faster til you get a pedal (brake lever).

With the hose run, this is essentially a new fill and bleed. No shortcuts. The good news is that the front, which is always easier, is already done and nice and firm.

The bad news is that I'll probably need to go to the local lbs bike shop for more mineral oil for the rear.

About 30 seconds after I thought, "hmmmm - maybe there is enough fluid in the bleed cup for the rear line..." I heard a little clatter and splash as the cup fell to the ground. Off I go to the local LBS bike shop.

You can't run down to the store and pick up some baby oil?

I wrapped some bars the other day. I always start from the bottom, and I always do the left side first. This time I started on the right, and wrapped both sides in the reverse direction from normal.

I was taught to wrap bars as follows:
Drops are wrapped away from bike, reverse at hoods, and wrap towards the bike.
As you ride, your hands are always tightening the tape.

I know you are asposedto start from the bottom. I always do. But somehow I forget which direction (clockwise/counter-clockwise) is best. Thinking about it, I believe I do the left side counter-clockwise and the right side clockwise but not sure and not even sure it matters much anyway.

Should I start a thread with a poll??

I like to switch at the hoods too. Works great for glue-free tape.
