Excuse the crappy picture but this is a 90 s alu frame I picked up on eBay for peanuts, a far cry from some of the nice classics posted here but anyhow, fitted it out with a 105 groupset and stronglight headset.
converted the tube shifters to the 105 brifters and chucked my aero bars on.
really nice to ride but mainly used for my turbo trainer.

Thanks, this forum is going to end up costing me a fortune.....
once I've cleared all of the crap out ( washing machine, lawn mower etc etc) I reckon I'll get another 3 or 4 bikes in there...

Here is the wife's Christmas present that I built up. 91/92 Team Miyata. Was all 105 7 speed. I added the 105 triple, a 13-26 8 speed cassette, the new Claris 8 speed shifters and 2 new derailleurs. I must admit, sweeet bike if I say so myself. I hope I did the picture right. If not, someone can help me out.

You are going to like my next project. Unusual Miami Vice Iron man. It has the original bike shop sticker from a shop in Japan! No Iron man on the decal just Dave Scott Expert. No water bottle mount holes in the seat tube. The best part is a crowned fork! I will post some pictures in the Iron man thread.

It's not bad if you ride the drops. The DA's are so light-shifting, a finger is all it takes. I've been mounting mine sorta that way for a while, basically setting the bars on the ground, on the drops, and setting the ends of the big levers so that all 4 contact points are basically the same. Mine come out a little lower, but that may be camera angle.

You mean exclusively? I ride in the drops a lot, but I use the hoods. Your setups seem to suggest you don't ride on the hoods.

CL: The perspective remark was in response to seypat's question regarding the big ring on the green CE. It's not a particularly large ring, just a standard 53 tooth.
And the hood/lever placement? (Shrugs shoulders) Works for me. That's actually my backup Corsa Extra and I haven't put many miles on it. Could probably pop the seat up a half inch or so.

Aha! Yeah, I missed the whole chainring part. Mea culpa.
My observation wasn't so much about the placement, just using STI on a classic, Cinelli type bend. It always strikes me as very incongruous, but it's a personal preference thing. Very pretty frame.

I've never been comfortable on the hoods or tops; not sure why, maybe because I'm 5'6" and ride 56cm; the reach may be easier to the drops. My crit bike used bar end shifters, and I just don't get out of the crouch. Even in triathlons, I only ride the hoods if I have to speak to someone or maybe eat/drink while riding, or look around while slowing for an intersection. I've never really thought about it. The only problem I've had is numbness on non-Cinelli bars on my modern bikes,...that and when it comes time to change, the wrap on the drops tends to be really "on there."

Got er finished this morning. This was intended to be my all-purpose, beater bike, and it will be, but it turned out a little nicer than I was hoping. Thanks for the frame @rccardr! I hope I came close to doing it justice

Ok. Here goes. This is a double whammy, the first one happened to these bikes when they were only about 12-18 years old.
The original Peugeot and Apollo didn't know what hit them. A long time ago, May-June 1987, a much more talented individual than me grafted the two frames together. A custom large diameter tube joined the two bottom brackets. Here are some pictures from the original owner:
