29 surprisingly difficult miles today. It was hot and a bit humid but the wind was pretty nominal. It must have been the bike.

A very nice 44 mile ride at the MUP with my buddy Frank. It was actually pretty cool with little humidity this morning when we started and didn't get as hot as it was yesterday.

Yes, after skipping two days, I got out again today. For some reason, I still have a little fear of mounting and dismounting the bike, but less after today's ride. I went to the local park, and I did laps. The park is so safe and comfortable, and while laps were a little boring, it was great to watch all the sports enthusiasts training and playing. I did ten laps which was about six miles, average 8.5 mph and spent 44 minutes in the saddle. So this is data that I am going to use to improve my performance. The park is close, and doing laps will be a good plan, so I won't feel so guilty about leaving the hounds when Sis is away. All baby steps, and my knees hurt a little, but I am trying other exercises as well to build up the entire body, lose weight, and be a positive spirit on the planet.

Happy riding to all.

The knees will let me know if I go out tomorrow, but I want to do more laps again.

No fear.

You are using the easier gearing so as not to put excessive pressure on your knees, I hope.

Tuesday was a short 31 miles on the Grocery Grabber. Before the ride I put some 105 SPD-SL pedals on, much help.

Today was another GG bike ride. 5 miles riding to meet the group, 41 interesting miles averaging 20mph then 15 more miles with the detours on the way back home. Weighed the GG before heading out, 33 pounds with 65psi-26 X 1 3/8 tires, shock forks, fat spring seat with spring loaded seat post, 6" rise steel handlebars and 7 speeds. Only cost $99.95 at Target 11 years ago. Such a deal. Tomorrow will be 1 week since Thyroid surgery and no riding.

Up here north of the 49, it's light enough to ride til about 9:30pm. Just got back from a short but steep climb, 20 miles out and back. Pleasant temperature, slightly overcast. Perfect for cycling.

Yesterday was fairly warm here, the humidity is up where we expect it to be this time of year. Had a good ride, save the lady backing out of her driveway that never looked right or left, just straight back in the street and away she went. Luckily I was able to react and get away before she could ruin the ride for me. The heat index was 102-105 while I ride, air temps shown on my computer were between 95°F-100°F, the regular for here in the summer. Ride was great pace wise, I held a 15.7 mph average on a rolling hills ride that I like a lot. Great day for bicycling.

Wasn't going to ride today but got on the GG anyway. Went to DMV for motorhome registration, to grocery store, to father-in-law's house and then back home. Very easy 10 miles.

I hit the halfway mark for my goal this year to bicycle to the St. Louis Arch and back. For a total trip of 28.4 miles, I went to the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge and back. I'm kind of bummed because after all that effort, the gates to the bridge are closed. The gravel surface of the East Levee Road/Trail was quite a bit rougher than I'd like, especially near I-270, where they are doing road/bridge construction. wubbadawubbadawubbada... ugh.

At least I got my kicks on Route 66...

Got in a short 4 mile ride with the wife that was cut short due to a nail in her front wheel, after that I was able to get out solo for another 21 miles at a 14 mph avg with some good hills and More than a mile climb really enjoying changing up my ride routes for too long I just rode the same ride.

It gets plenty warm here as well during July and August. But the humidity is an entirely different situation. You can keep it.

No, sad but true, but I am not getting Virgo, me, over this. I will ride when I can, and I want to do it everyday, but life happens. I was super achy this am. I will plan for tomorrow, and post thusly.

Happy Riding to all,

Jackie

Yesterday was the highest heat index I have ridden in so far, I registered 112°F on the ride, humidity is up and the AAT was 95° when I started. Actually a very good ride, I took a route with a few more rollers just to get the work in. Things that use to tax me now seem to just roll under the wheels, that feels nice.

63 hot and sometimes wet miles on the GG. Chain came off 3 miles into our 13 mile long second segment. The guys know not to wait for me so I had a 10 mile individual TT into the wind to second stop. It was a bear holding 17mph while maintaining a 150bpm heart rate. Great workout.

We did 49.3 miles on the tandem today to check out some route options for a little mini-tour later in the summer. The day started very humid, dew point around 72, had a few drops of rain, then it got better.

Got in a late afternoon ride, heat that they warned us about never has materialized, 91°F was the highest I saw. A slight south-southeast headwind going back in but it was more cooling than an aggravation. Riding was fantastic, as usual.

Ten miles this morning during a dry spell. Poured down rain - twice - later in the day.
