Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Driving home this evening. Looking south into the San Pasqual Valley. Not the best quality photo. Took it with my iPhone. That's the moon there, and it was enormous tonight.

On way up to Mt Baldy ski lifts. Alpe d'Huez has got nothing on this climb. Used for stage 7 in this years Tour of California.

I don't know why I haven't looked at this thread before. Most of these photos are absolutely breathtaking. I would love to post some photos of my rides here in Florida, but after seeing these photos, mine would bore you to death.

I was debating posting these because they're nowhere near as dramatic, but got to keep the Lane County, Oregon pictures going!

The road into Enchanted Valley, Florence, OR- this is about a 9% grade. I haven't conquered it yet, but someday! Lots of elk when you crest it and drop into the valley, but I haven't seen any when I've had my camera.

Now I wish I'd waited longer to try and get a picture without cars of the bridge over the north fork of the Siuslaw river yesterday when I was coming back from Mapleton.

There's already a thread for people like us... https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ighlight=urban

I've posted a few photos here, but from other parts of the state. Post them anyways, I'd like to see views of our fair city.

Near Ashcroft BC. This is a killer hill - 15 km at 11%, the pavement quality is great so the descent is a gas.
