Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? I made the delrin ring on a lathe at work and cut a slot in it with a hacksaw later, but I had the scrap close at hand. It doesn't need to be nearly that complicated.

It's just a garmin, those things are light. wrap black electrical tape around the bar and put the mount around that.

I was wondering if you used a shoulder. i know it isnt needed, but it might look nice. i am installing an old south bend lathe in my garage. Sounds like a perfect test project.

That's the lazy way out. Besides, that much tape would look cheap.

Didn't use a shoulder. Not sure i could have- pretty sure the barfly doesn't have a consistent width the entire circumference. Protip: PVC pipe machines VERY well. I'd bet something with a thicker wall (like schedule 80, bonus grey color) would have enough diameter and thickness to hit both the 26 and 31.8mm targets.

Wait, don't you mean you need 1/8" shim thickness? 2 x 1/16 = 1/8.

set it up tubeless right off the bat.

Is there any actual benefit to a lefty besides weight savings?

Overall simplification of a complicated front end.

If it means anything, you can change a flat without removing the wheel.

However, you cannot easily remove the front wheel to facilitate transport.

it's much stiffer. instead of 2 fork legs fighting each other, you've got one stanchion coming down directly from the headtube w/ square internals.
also, they use needle bearings which are much smoother.

I know this because I own a Cannondale Jekyll with a Lefty fork.
