So far, yeah!
Sure can! I've put about 100 mi on it so far and they are buttery smooth. Will report back in another 500 or so.

The problem with the R3 is that due to its special wider press-fit BB the choices in cranks are limited and I wanted 165mm Ultegra cranks that won't fit. The Matrix has a conventional 68mm threaded BB, which works great with the Ultegra external bearing setup. I did ride a Matrix that was built up with different components and it seemed to be about the same as the R3, except maybe a bit harsher in the rear, but that was with 700x23c tires with a lot of pressure in them and I'm going with 700x25c tires and there's room in the rear for 700x28c if I decide to go that route.

not to open this can of worms, but i hate all of this fancy PF/BB30/BB86/whatever BB crap
i'm a middle of the road competitive cyclist, which means I have to be fitter than 95% of all total road cyclists out there and I can't tell a damn difference between an english bb and bb30 (or whatever).

ya that seems to be the trend... i'm on board with most oversize innovations in general, it's easy to understand the physics behind the stiffness increase.
the crank assemblies on many less than perfect frames (esp carbon bb shells) can be problematic. ive had a couple less than steller experiences w bb30.
