This example is really a bit too much, but just so you get the idea:
In this respect, the seatpost looks a bit pimped to me. But, if three bike lovers tell you your seatpost is cool, maybe you should leave it there.
Then again, there's the Dura ace 7400-B:

(NB In my experience the all plastic Cinelli Unicanitor modern reissue is not such a bad saddle. It's indestructible, it never gets wet and is comfortable for about 30km).

Just got this frame yesterday, and I can't wait to build it up proper.
Those wheels were just thrown on to stand the frame up for photos, not going to be using them. Thinking about going with the polished TB14's laced to Dura Ace hubs. I want to replace the headset with a DA headset. Not sure about what cranks to put on this though. I'm not sure if an older, retro looking set like the IRD's would look good. Or a modern DA/Campy setup.

Funny (to me) that you say that. I was just thinking the other day that I can understand paint in a thin pantographed line on the frame but I never really dug the painted insets of seat posts, stems or cranks. I don't know too much about vintage bikes (When did they start pantographing frames and parts? When did they start painting flutes and cranks and why?) so sorry if what I say sounds silly.
This example is really a bit too much, but just so you get the idea

The Dura-Ace is classy and understated -- but the painted flutes are not bad. To answer your question, that practice dates back to the 1970s. The Dura-Ace you posted is probably 1980s or 90s. So it'll modernize the bike some. Can't really go wrong either way.

Looking at the details they put in brakes makes me chuckle...but it's something I love about older Italian bikes.
It's the like some Colnagos...many think they have garish paint jobs but I absolutely love frames with the Colnago Mapei paint.

The best Colnagos are the ones that keep it to 1-2 colors max

Got some retro decals for it too, if I ever get around to putting them on.

Zipp service course sl cockpit, 7710 drive train with that gold jammer, wheels are from taiwan.
13 pounds on the nose sans pedals. Got some Mavic SL Ti's that shouldn't put it over 13.5 even with tire glue.

Is it for the road or strictly track?
