WNG, you certainly make a good point and I remember when I put it together putting a tiny bit of silicone grease at the cable exit. The bike is just put together and not ridden or tuned so now is a good time to consider changes.

For comparison, I checked my 1983 Raleigh Sprite mixte and a similar angle exists. Both were original bikes so I'm assuming thats the way they were designed.

To mount below the bridge, the caliper would have to be flipped and the wheel force would be in the opposite direction. Would this create another problem? Open to suggestion, anyone want to chime in?

The wheel force will not be an issue, as some model road bikes and mixtes came designed that way. Your only issue would be clearance, ie. fenders.

Tried the flip of the brakes and the cable exit angle is better and actuation is a little smoother and easier. Not sure that it looks as nice, but appears to work better. Riding it in the spring will tell.

Definitely NOT. This frame, like most of the mixte frames of this era, are a decent tubing, but not high-end.

This is what leads to my "lipstick on a piglet" comment re: the components. But, being small, the frame is light and responsive.

Of course the key is "fit", and for my small rider this is good.

I'll return and post a better photo of the decal, but it ain't Reynolds.

Good day working the queue, for me. In the last 24 hours, I reconfigured my $100 Clunker challenge bike to sell (ie. get rid of!), fixed flats on my fixie and my Super Course, packed and shipped a couple of eBay sales, pulled my Peugeot Vagabond down from the shelf, swapped the cheapo Kendas for the Paselas I got for it, then straightened its slightly bent RD hanger (finally) to my satisfaction... then I finally finished putting together my wife's Peugeot UE-18 mixte. (Now where did those Kenda gumwalls come from?)



Original running gear, including the chain, probably. Delrin holding up OK so far (crosses fingers)


Cockpit is all non-original, but probably works better. It came to me with some very rusty steel Shimano stem shifters, which I replaced with some Power Shifters from the Box o' Crap game. If I ever get my wife to actually ride this thing, I'm sure she'll like these better.

True, indeed. I built these in time for Christmas, tho. I wanted to go HF, but timing didn't work.

It still amazes me to count up all the "lipstick" on this little pixie. Note the Campy Euclid pedals, too. . .

We like happy mixtes, eh?

Well, these are mixtes. Grocery bike and ride around, but I never can go out without finding or buying stuff, so the Peugeot also had to get equipped for hauling. The trek bars are an experiment.

Picked up today off semi-local Craigslist. Super clean, excellent condition. My new city bike!

the Classic Fuji site would suggest it's a 1980. Fuji 441 chromoly steel, aluminum hubs and cranks, 12 speeds, Suntour shifters and Suntour-made derailleurs, Dia-compe brakes. Pads are super thick and brake well, shifting is relatively smooth (still not used to friction shifting). By far the best condition CL mixte I've seen.

Hello mixte lovers, this is a (mid 80s?) 50cm Univega Supra Sport that I fixed up for my girlfriend who hasnīt ridden a bike since the last millenium.



I swapped the drops for generic high rise bars to make the position more upright.

Suntour XC Pro brake levers replaced the glorious wings of turkey. I then debated using the stem mounted shifters because they turned out to be so beautiful but opted to use a pair of XT thumbshifters so she could shift from the grip. Expecting to use friction mode, I
was mildy surprised to see that indexing works with the 5sp rear. Its a shifter that was removed after about 15 years of use so it is pretty worn out.

Luckily the 165mm crank is a 110 BCD so I put on a worn Shimano SGX 46t and a Vuelta 36 to replace the chromed steel 52/40 - which provide friendlier gears for beginners, as well as SnappierShifing (TM)

Finished it off with a newish WTB saddle + kraton grips I had laying around. Original Suntour AR2 derailleurs, freewheel, SpokeProtector, pedals, Diacompe calipers, and Nitto stem

1978 Raleigh Grand Prix as it was when it arrived. Currently dismantled and mostly sanded for a respray before being "reinvigorated". Original paint was not good and all decals were damaged. Black and lime green me thinks ...

My 1987 Miyata 112. Note the brazed on shifters on the downtube. All components are original, however this bike normally sold with drop bars. These bars/stem appear to be those of the 100 model. No rust and appears to have been ridden little and housed indoors.
