My Miele, not sure what frame (any held IDing it would be welcome):
- 105 Brifters
- Ultegra cranks
- Shimano clipless pedals (base spec?)
- Ultegra RD
- Ultegra FD
- 105 cassette
- Fulcrum Racing Zero wheelset
- Ritchey comp carbon fork
- Ritchey scuzzy logic headset
- Ritchey WCS stem and bars
- Conti GP4000s II, 700x25 (obligatory)
- Thomson Masterpiece setpost (27.2mm)
- Fizik saddle (Antares?) and cinelli natural tape
This is the first road bike I have owned and how I got into cycling. Frame was powder-coated signal red after my first prang. I would've kept it original but a previous owner had bodged a paint job on one of the dropouts/stays.

Main change this time around: Corsa G+. They're fine tires, but I'm a little disappointed--I was expecting them to run wide, but they measure true on my rims.
I should've stuck to GP4000Sii. I had them in 28, but that was too tall. 25 probably would've been perfect.

@NedMW thats a very nice looking bike, very tastefully done!
You might consider replacing the silver steerer tube spacers with black ones.

@athrowawaynic, I normally don't like bikes with lots of big logos and decals, but somehow, yours works for me.

The frame decals, however, are in too good a shape to remove.
And although I want to remove the wheel decals, they're stuck on extremely well.

I like the Atala logos, and I think the visual noise (for lack of a better way to describe it) that they create somehow harmonizes with the decals on the wheels. I wonder if you managed to remove the rim decals whether the deep black rims might not look slightly out of place. Sometimes you just need to commit to a relatively modern look even with a vintage bike.
I definitely like that you went with a silver crankset and brake lever blades, but the black brakes and derailleurs work well on that bike.
I would have to try white bar tape though.

Yep, I've got 25mm GP4000s IIs and they're spot on on this frame. Toyed with the idea of 28mm but doubted they would fit.

I do like white bar tape, and it could use a re-tape, but how do you keep it clean?!
I just barely got them to fit. (You might have been able to slide a business card between the tire and the brake bridge/caliper.) I even rode it like that for about 75 miles. But the grinding noise (when the tire picked up a grain of sand) was really unsettling.

That would be unsettling. I am also keen to avoid grinding down my shiny new fork if I can avoid it at all

I don't know, but I have heard that the magic eraser works very well.

I had that issue with a shiny chrome replacement fork I had on my bike (got the frame I'd been lusting after, but it was lacking a fork). 23 mm GP 4000s on wider rims and going down a dirt road was enough to get rubbing on the bottom of my brake calipers from the few dirt grains I picked up the rest of the ride (even stopped a couple of times to wipe the tires down once off the road). At the next opportunity, I replaced the fork with a nashbar carbon fiber threaded fork. It kind of looks out of place on a frame from the 80's, and is probably heavier, but it's got loads of clearance, which is the important thing for me.

^^^^ On the (now) bleeding edge of C&V with that frame's production date! I like it. Great job coordinating all the colors into a cohesive look. And that includes nailing colors that are hard to (STI hoods, tires, and bar tape??? Wow!). Do you have or have you had any older lugged steel bikes? How do they compare to this?

Mid 1970s Colnago Super with various Campy bits
So I bought this frame almost twenty years ago. It had seen better days, and I hadn't planned on trying to restore it, and just rode it as a daily rider, since it had poor paint and was rusty. I had my nicer bikes to ride as well. But I got very attached to its ride, so rather than retire it, I decided to repaint it and have its drive train updated so I could seamlessly hop from bike to bike. I finished it this winter, and am waiting for the salt to wash off the roads before a shake out ride to ensure its new finish is well tended!
Hope you like its new appearance. (I never knew its original color, since it was in bad shape with a repaint when I got it.)

I like it. I wonder which side of the bars will be more comfortable.

Thanks! I did each side to see which looked better, and decided I liked the asymmetry, and left it like that. I doubt I'll notice much difference, since I'm not too sensitive to different bar tape that I use, but we will see once I have some miles on it.

Bump and repost every time I change something (bar tape, this time).

How did this thread fall to Page 4???
anyhoo...
I have (to date) been a 'vintage as vintage' and 'modern as modern' kind of guy.
Below my first pre-90s frame with brifters.
Specifically, a '78 Batavus with Campy 9 triple (which had come off one of my 10 speed bikes years ago).

So... are you a convert now? I'm not sure i can ever be persuaded to buy a new bike again. (Well, maybe if the time was right for a Ritchey, I'd give it a try.)

Vanilla Workshop, another Calfee, something from Bill Holland - ... golly, the list could be endless.
The house is getting full, tho.

So you've actually ridden that now? Nice to see it finally complete. The lighting in those pictures doesn't do justice to how pretty that color is.
