Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

more TT bike Thursdays, endurance stuff. I'll do my usual 30' at high z2 then 15' at a solid tempo pace. With any luck, next Thursday I may get to do a TT bike workout outside, and for a couple hours or more! Then 4 hours on Black Friday (road bike) if I'm really lucky. Family visiting and helping mom and whatnot.

yes this is a recycled image.... but at least im wearing the same kit!

Every time I see an Adamo saddle, I think of this guy:

Oh so true. My ‘followers’ are mostly gravel, mountain bikers and four road bikers. I could care less about the gravel and mountain aspects and getting kudos, which seems like a robotic act rather than handing them out for real accomplishments. I too would like to meet fellow, or fella, road bikers near me that run about my pace and distance. I have looked at the leaderboards to see speeds on segments that look like mine and then look up on the app if they are local - but all you can do is Follow them. I have sent a couple of requests out based on this and the people are now living out of state. Plus you don’t know on a segment if they are giving it ‘their all’ or if its their normal cruising speed.

Strava could really excel by ramping up the social aspect of their app to connect with people rather than the striving for likes or kudos which are, to me, pretty meaningless. I will continue to use the app, because it summarizes my data and keeps track of mileage and ascent, but it has a long way to go.

Billy Joel wrote a series of solo piano pieces a few years ago.

Sonatinas I think. I have a collection of various pieces accumulated over the years, but I don’t know enough to categorize them. I could of taken music appreciation 101 more seriously for sure.

BAM gave me a kudo on Strava for a quick 6 mile Zwift ride not to long ago. I cherished it. It's now framed and hangs in front of my trainer to motivate me.

RE Adamo. Ya it's weird but my experience with TT saddles, is find the one that is the least uncomfortable. The Adamo is the least uncomfortable of the few I've tried

Very cool - we'll have to give this a complete listen through at home. So often it's easy to discount popular musicians as not having much musical clout or real talent, but often times they really do.

You are too young. We geezers remember old-timer actor Lorne Greene (of Bonanaza fame) whose last major TV role was Commander Adama on the original Battlestar Galactica TV series in the late 1970's.

here's a light and lovely Schubert that I play with my mom some times. I'll do the easy violin line with my right hand only (easy for piano that is). She is a much more accomplished classical pianist. I'm the jazz guy
