Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I've added a number of features that make it "not extra light" anymore. It's approximately 19 lbs now.

Hot. If I saw this on the street I would gawk. You don't see many bikes that look just like this.

The pump was custom built by Bruce Gordon Cycles. I bought two of them… Figured I'd never find anyone else to make a titanium frame pump ever again!

What fork is that? Did you replace the original carbon fork with a steel one? Ti fork even?

It's a custom titanium fork made by Ti Cycles Fabrication in Portland. They made the stem as well. It's obviously a quill stem, but it has a 31.8 mm handlebar clamp with removable faceplate to accept modern handlebars. Ti Cycles also retrofitted the S&S couplers.

Love your Ti fork. Makes your bike very unique.

Here is my 2011 extralight

Very nice! Not much has changed between 1993 and 2011.

You'll need pedals if you're planning to ride it...

Quite a few changes actually. The top tube became tappered and the seatstays became S-curved (viewed from the rear).

True. Also, the head tube went from 1" to 1.125", the down tube cable stops were moved to the head tube, and it now uses a separate seatpost binder clamp. But, it does retain the level top tube, and the geometry looks the same to my eye.

One aesthetic I'm learning I really like is blending retro with modern. Because of that this bike fires on all cylinders for me.

Thanks for all the positive responses! But... The Merlin is still not in it's final form. The next big change is top secret for now, but if it happens possibly by next spring, I'll repost the fully realized concept.
