Here's a pic of my latest creation. It is a Motobecane Gran Turismo (essentially a Trek 520 copy) that I converted.
It is a great improvement over my last creation. Here are the specs:
24V/30ah LiFePo4 battery pack
24v/900w Currie motor w/15 tooth freewheel sprocket
90t #25 drive gear/sprocket
I don't know what other specs to post. This bike is really fast. Way faster than my Bianchi converson. I can hit 28mph on a flat, have hit 32.2 on a slight down, 25 is easy and it powers up most hills at about 17 mph. It is awesome. I love it.
I haven't tested the range yet but was able to go 11 miles on all electric and still registered 26.2V on the pack (not a good indication since lithium has a steep dropoff at the end).
It would probably improve the balance if you could mount the battery(or whatever on the rear rack) to the top tube. I wonder if that would improve the speed any. Hmm. Hmm.

I did indeed move my battery pack but, it didn't improve top speed. Here it is now

200Watt Old-school "cuda" Commuter eBike
My 2000Watt Cuda. It rocks a Crystalyte HT35 rear hub motor, 4840 controller and a 48V40aH LifePO4 battery. Cruises at ~30mph with a 30-50mile range. Major torque allowing me to run with 500lb total weight including me! I built it for commuting and travel. This bike is a BEAST!

Trek R200 conversion
My first e bike. It isn't a custom build but I think there may not be too many Trek R200s out there that have been "electrified." Just finished it and had a chance last week to run it around just a bit. Way too much fun! Now I have to wait for the Vermont spring.
FYI; 48V, 400 watts, rear hub, with a Cycle Analyst, PAS and thumb throttle. The kit of parts came from ebike solutions. Doug was very helpful.
Since nothing except the drive train is "standard" on this beast there was some challenge but it was a lot of fun. The mess of wires and cables on the tiller have been dressed up a bit since this photo was taken, and the orange straps on the seat tube are for holding a camera bag.
Thanks for looking!

I like how simple it is to electrify a bike. Seems like all I'd need is a motor, controller and a battery? Shoot, why even pedal anymore.

Actually the first ones in England did--at least some of them. The US production didn't.

It seems simple but it is a little more involved than that. There are a lot of variables that need to be considered. Things like how to mount the motor, geared hub, direct drive or mid drive (my favorite). What size battery pack, how to mount the batteries (one of the toughest obstacles for me), and many other variables. If you would like to do one, I'd be glad to help you with tech advice.

Ha ha ha! That's one of the best and stealthiest looking batteries I've seen on an e-bike yet. Good job with the Bionx build! Did you paint yourself?

Whats makes this bike even more stealthly, is that I can peel off the black plasti dip and vinyl wrap in under a min to make it look like this if I need to.
Plasti dip FTW!

Yeah, i've seen some pretty amazing stuff done with plasti dip. No bikes yet (probably due to the "extra weight"), but it looks good. I expect durability to be higher for the bike than a car and it should last for some time. Great looking build!

Yes I did paint it, sort of. Its not paint on the battery, its a vinyl wrap I got done at a Car graphics shop. It cost me $75 to get wrapped. The frame and bomber shocks have been plasti dipped. Heres some pics...

Manufacturer's Specs:
Motor: Rear hub 500W, gearless high speed
Battery: Lithium-ion 48V8.7Ah 417Wh
Display: LCD multi-function display with power adjustment features
Speed: 20 mph / 32 kph motor only, 28 mph / 45kph with hard pedaling
Range: 25 - 35 Miles / 40 - 56 km with normal pedaling
Manufacturer: Currie Technologies
I've had this bike for a short time and have only 173 miles so far. My experience, pedaling hard, has been an indicated top speed on flat, paved trail of about 25 mph. The quoted range is optimistic but even with heavy battery use I can go 20 miles. Overall - so far I'm very pleased with it.Motor: Rear hub 500W, gearless high speed

My new bike (green and black) and my old one (red and white).
Old one is a rear hub 200W with controller mounted in plastic project box and 36V 10AH battery.
New one is a front hub 1000W with controller in hub and using the same 36V 10AH battery (for now, until I get a 48V).
Both are on almost identical Motachie mountain bike frames.
I get about 30KM range on the 36V battery but should get about 40-45KM when i upgrade my battery.
Speed is about 34-36KM/H which should increase once i move to 48V.
Hope you like it, feel free to ask any questions.
