lazyass - forte brand pedals did not work for me no matter how hard I tried , they are about half the price of 5800 105 pedals but even on lowest tension setting took way too much effort to clip and more importantly unclip . I am basing my input based on direct comparison of the two pedals and using the same exact shoes .

If they were Forte then you got them at Performance and could have got a refund on your money with no questions asked. So if it was money wasted then it was your fault. Spending a lot of money for your first set is not a good idea. Your first anything in cycling is a roll of the dice. The less money you gamble with the better.

I have some VP-163 spd road pedals you can get dirt cheap and if you like spd's they're 100% fine. Not saying every pedal is great but you aren't totally correct. I've had many different pedals including MTB and I can't say I've had any properly adjusted that made me fall off my bike. That's odd but mmmkay.
