horrible songs you get stuck in your head

What is it about riding a bike that dredges these up from our subconscious?

I recently hit a new low with Meat Loaf's "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad". Let's hear yours. Ok... Maybe I don't want to actually hear them.

The Thomas the Tank Engine theme. (You could probably guess that I have a two-year old son.)

Spongebob square pants theme song. I also have a 2 year old son.

Songs I have not heard in years tend to become stuck in my head. Only 3 seconds of the same song over and over. The last one was baby hit me one more time. UGH!

Rarely I actually get a song stuck that I actually like. The last one being Date With The Night by the yeah yeah yeahs.

Spam spam spam spam as sung by the vikings in the spam skit from Monty Python. That song always gets stuck in my head. It makes me laugh for the first few minutes, gets very old after an hour or more.

Admitting this may get my geek membership card upgraded to platinum level, but here are the most horrible songs that get stuck in my head.

(Sing 'em, you know 'em)

1 Badger, badger, badger, badger, mushROOM...

2 All your base - your base - base - base - are belong to us...

3 This is the ultimate showdown of ultimate destiny...

"I wear my sunglasses at night". Gave me chills.

I couldn't get it out of my head until I started singing "Build a little birdhouse in your soul" out loud.

I once took a very long solo hike and made the mistake of taking along Sirens of Titan to read. In it, our hero gets a chip implanted in his head that helped him march when things got tough. The chip played a little ditty that mimicked a snare drum. . .

Rented a tent, a tent, a tent,
Rented a tent, a tent,
Rented a tent, a tent, a tent,
Rented a, Rented a tent.

I still can't walk long distances without that running in my head.

Curse you, Kurt Vonnegut!!!

The Sesame Street Theme, now that Daylight Savings Time has me riding home in the daylight. "Sunny Days...chasing the clouds away" It's been funny this week because every day until today brought rain on my commute. Unfortunately, my kids are too old to be my excuse.

"of Lord, won't you buy me a mercadies bens..." by Janis Joplin. Usually manifests at about mile 80 of American century rides or during a tour day of heavy cranking!

Your red scarf matches your eyes
You close your cover before striking
Father had the ship-fitter blues
Loving you has made me bananas

Oh you burned your finger that evening
while my back was turned
I asked the waiter for iodine
But I dined alone

Your red scarf matches your eyes
You close your cover before striking
Father had the ship-fitter blues
Loving you has made me bananas
