Go to 21:26 to see the guy who passed us with double yellow lines. I went on a ride with my roadie/racer friend of about 28mi roundtrip. It was full of climbs and descents. We went around the Cherry Creek reservoir and then headed back home.

Under Pennsylvania's new Bicycle Safety Law it is legal to cross a double yellow line into the oncoming traffic lane to give the bicycle the required passing distance. https://www.edgarsnyder.com/blog/2012...afety-law.html That's the problem with driving laws, all the states are different and it's nearly impossible to know the subtleties of the law for all the states.

Rode up Chino Hills State Park Today with my Trek DS 8.4. It was a little warm so i think I'll start riding at 7am instead of 9am.

Inside, stationary bike, at the gym!

Went for my first ride of the season yesterday, 15.6 miles on my Trek Kaitai, nothing special... just along the Great Western path here in suburban Chicago.

Pumped that the weather has seemed to turn and looking forward to riding a TON this season!

yeah, me too.... lol

46.23 miles today

first trip to New Jersey along 9W, climbed Tallman Mountain.

Henry Hudson Drive is officially the toughest climb I think I've done.

Caught the draft behind two road bikers trading drafts for more than 5 miles when I had headwinds, I could really feel the difference.

Went on a short first ride of the year on Tuesday and rode about 6 miles with a girl friend and her aunt (averaged 6 mph lol) and then yesterday I went for a slightly longer and faster paced ride without the aunt. Here's pictures of both events. Taken at the Chicago Lake Front Bike Path. Forgive the cell phone pictures.. they tend to come out blurry

Nice pics! So jealous that you get to ride the lakefront (I'm out in the burbs). Hoping to move somewhere in the Lincoln Park area in a few months!

5.5 utilitarian miles with my girlfriend.

we went shopping at some nearby wholesale stores, i brought the giant duffle for a few large items.

when I returned home I found my new camera, the GoPro HD Hero 2, had arrived.

i'm excited to see what night rides look like with the improved camera.

also, I now have 2 batteries so I should be able to film during the 5 boro bike tour, and not worry about battery life.

my first unwrapping video (shot on my balcony), i should have wrote a script but fumbled through like most others do instead. *Correction in the video - When I say a picture every 2 seconds I mean 2 pictures every second.

8 miles on the Mission trail/reach as stated by jumbo it is not completed as of yet. We were only able to get to two missions but it was good to see they are actively working on the expantion. Only wish I would of taken some pictures of the work in progress.

Mission Concepcion.

Mission San Jose.

Rose window.

We did drive to the other two missions to check them out, I have lived in San Antonio since 1989 and had never seen them all. Also had to go out and do 15 miles when I got home, 8 was just not enough.

I had to try the HD Hero 2 on a night ride.

https://astoriahd.blogspot.com/2012/0...ds-island.html

7.84 miles on Wards Island.

It was a purposefully short ride but I'm glad I turned around when I did as my left crank arm came loose not long after cresting the Triboro Bridge on the return trip. I had to scoot my bike home the last mile, but it slowed me down enough to get a clip of a motorcycle club passing me near Astoria Park.

I am aware of this new law since I also live in Pittsburgh. The law actually says that the car should allow at least four feet of distance between it and the cyclist. I disagree with the viewpoint of AlphaDogg although I admit I am not familiar with the law in his state. If every car that would come behind a bicyclist on a road with double yellow line had to wait for the bike to do 1,2,3...miles until it is permissible to pass then all cars would be driving at 10mph at best. The double line is there for automobiles. Not for bikes, animals, pedestrians etc...

Four feet!

I'm lucky if I get more than a foot between myself and a passing car in these parts.

26.59 miles. https://astoriahd.blogspot.com/2012/0...land-city.html

I used a route made up of the triboro, 125th st, and 59th st bridges to do 2 "laps".

Many people wearing green, many people out due to the nice weather.

This was my first daylight ride with the HD Hero 2, and my first ride trying the camera mounted on the side.

The last mount I might want to try would be the chest mount.

I mounted this based on the picture I found of a GoPro Helmet with a google image search. You can program the camera to shoot upside down.

Hey Mac4095, love the pictures, and they really look great!

I rode today for the first time from "Blue Star" on Alamo st. and took a tour through the King William area, and then tried to ride down from there to Mission Concepcion, but they have the bike path blocked off all the way to Roosevelt park for some reason, and they don't give a date that it will reopen.

Once the mission reach trail is complete that will be a pretty good ride all the way from downtown to Mission Espada and back.

I'm looking forward to it since it's not far from my house.

26.07 miles today https://astoriahd.blogspot.com/2012/0...-park-and.html

I found myself up in the Bronx along the Manhattan Greenway, and explored the Northern part of High Bridge Park.

I then cut West after doubling back to meet up with the Hudson River Greenway where I stopped at the Intrepid and patronized her overpriced vending machines and took a couple of interesting shots before heading East on 51st St towards the 59th St Bridge, and home.

I'm quite happy with much of the footage from today actually. All of my favorite clips are on my blog. Here's a few for Forum consideration.

^^^I drop 1 "f-bomb" in this video, but it was only after dodging, and double hopping, hazards at fairly high speed. When recording I try not to swear.^^^

below is some of Broadway at it's Broadwayest, Radio City/Rockefeller Center, St Patricks Catherdral with a cool convertible Corvette.
