Ah, by 'that stuff' I meant the male/female freehub interface. Earlier freehubs were all over the place with various designs and sizes, but '87 seems to be the year they went to one design.

I finished building up this frameset I got from Robbietunes. Had to go frankenbike temporarily, but it turned out nice. I was going to do downtube shifting but it has those "funky boss"s so i had to improvise. Went for a 15 mile shakedown ride today, in the near 40 degree temp (should have wrapped those bars), and it ended up stretching into a 28 miler. This bike rides very nice and it really moves. Much nicer than the Trek 400 elance it replaced.

It was powder coat, done by the master, Len McCreary. He really is very, very good.
So sad that The Decal Police stopped Velocals from reproducing nice Schwinn decals, though. Had I known, I'd have bought several more sets....

I picked up a Miami Vice Expert last week. The serial # is N7D7150. When I got home I noticed some differences from the norm. The Dave Scott decal is different, a HIRAKO decal on the TT, no water bottle bosses on the ST, and the fork is a traditional crowned/lugged fork. WTF? I could barely make out a telephone number on the shop decal at the bottom of the ST so I looked it up. Turns out it was bought at Hirako Cycles in Yushi, Japan!
Check out that fork!

Can't believe I forgot to add a pic of it with the carbon fork. I know some of you won't like the modernization, but as Robbie once told me... this thing is like a "hot rod" version now! LOL
Presently she sits as pictured except that the wheels were swapped out for Mavic Aksiums and I threw on an all black FSA Gossamer compact crank to get it setup for the hilly areas around here. I guess I'll owe another pic at some point.

At the time, I was approaching, intending to correct the aforementioned miscreant, but I think she did a better job than I could have, and I left it at that. He will always hate that bike, and I will always appreciate her legs and insight.

I got lots of looks and conversation on the last Century I rode it on too! People love it or hate it, but it did pass a great many of them!

There is nothing more fun than passing people, while riding a bike like that. Hot Rod is an understatement.

We don't really have the terrain in Richmond to train for that ride. So I do most of mine at the gym on a spin bike. I set it on a climbing program and go till I run out of gas.

You should come up and join us on this ride! If the weather is good it is an awesome ride. The director is a cyclist. It is the best organized ride I have been on. Toughest event I have done so far also. My tri buddy is supposed to come as well. He usually does Mountains Of Misery but couldn't this year. I can get a roll away bed for the hotel room if need be. Or I have good camping gear. It's on the 18th. Take a look.
