My wife and came home after several days away. Mango and Pumpkin weren’t going to let her get up again.

I can't really have a pet, because sometimes I get stuck working 24hr shifts and wouldn't be able to stop in and feed them, but I try to learn and befriend the local outdoor cats. I'd post pics, but, I can't

Keep posting stuff, eventually you’ll earn that privilege. And see if your area has a feral cat association. You can do a good deed by capturing outdoor cats, neutering them, and returning them to the “wild”.

These are a few of the local cats I'm trying to befriend, fortunately they all have homes and seem to be outdoor cats, unless the weather gets below freezing. Not sure about that last one, he was a bit skittish.

Rassilon, our very loving cat was euthanized a couple of hours ago.
Sabriel & Rassilon
We have had a sad year with our pets.
Sabriel (in the back) suddenly got very sick (pneumothorax) and could not be saved - we had to euthanize her about 4 months ago.
Rassilon was diagnosed with lymphoma about 10 weeks ago. It was already metastatic by the time they did all the imaging. We kept him pain free. But finally, today we had to bid him goodbye.

Someone once said that when you die, you get reunited with your pets. I know all religions have their stories about what happens after we die, but this has to be one of the best ideas.
If it is true, I'll be happily dead. Let's hope that it is true. Or that heaven is what we think it is.

My kitty, who is named Little Baby, because when she meows to talk to us, which is all the time, she sometimes sounds like a little baby. She's so sweet and gentle. I've had several cats before, all of whom I loved and kept forever... But Little Baby is special.

Buttons is moving in gradually. This floored us yesterday. And we can pet him now. He still lives outside though. Pretty soon we have to figure out how to get him to a vet. That's going to be tricky.

sorry for blowing up this thread with pictures of Buttons. Still making progress with him. I picked him up last night. He still won't sleep inside all night though.
That mitten in the background is my daughter's and has become his favorite toy.

this is a wonderful "So now what?" expression he wears here
he is one fortunate boy to benefit from your love, patience and gentleness
may not be long before he decides he is in charge of everything which goes on in the house...
no worries about "too many pictures"

^^ you can see in that picture that the door to the outside is open. It's the only way we can get him to relax. If I go to close it, he scoots past me and goes out. If I do manage to close it, he paces like a caged lion. Poor guy. I can relate, we both have anxiety.

They don't seem to get very spaced out, a few years back I grew some catnip in a pot and a local cat would go really freaky and roll around on it's back for about 5 mins.
I'm fairly sure it can't do any actual harm.
