I'll have you know I raced right through yet another mediocre road season to the end of '98!!! Got married, traded the Merckx for a Specilazed S-Works Stumpjumper (what a freakin' mistake that was...) and only bought that stoopidly overpriced Italian steel bike in 2002.....to lean against Lygon St coffee shop windows and take photos of in my back yard.

it's an alu frameset (not the lighest, but very well in handling and going up and down hills and mountains).
The wheelset is a "normal" mavic cosmic carbon set, but I changed the stickers from yellow into white, because of the combination with my bike (custum made, costs around 90usd for 8 stickers). The wheels are just sold, it's winter anyway, and I'm looking for some all-carbon clinchers/tubulars (see my question in an other thread), possible Zipp, Reynolds or Velomax.

This is a fantastic thread - I've never seen such beautiful bikes! I'm new to the road cycling, but have been dreaming and scheming about "the perfect machine". Was thinking about trading in my 1990's Ross Gran Tour (28-lb chromoly monster) for an Airborn Zeppelin with Chorus carbon and Mavic Elites. But this thread has just opened up so many other possibilities....hmmm.
Guess I'll have to mark this thread and start making a list.

Hey everyone, brand spanking new here...although ive been reading the forum for about a month now from work, i finally got an email addy and signed up! so anyway im 20, been riding mtn bikes for years now, and this summer finally purchased my first road bike (after much inspiration from dorm-mates at UNH durham and the UNH cycling team) i saved and saved and found my dream come true in a 04 kestrel talon, red w/ beautiful nude carbon fork and rear stay. Ive only put on about 150 miles so far (with 1 flat 5 miles from home....doh!) and i love this bike, i never knew riding could be so fast, smooth, and fun... i have trouble finding time to take the ole' mtn. bike out now, well, i cant wait show you so here it is!

2001 Davidson Stilletto. Steel frame. Bought it at the LBS for $800, full Campy Record. Apparently some young buck wanted a bike with a tricked out frame material, so he traded it in. The LBS owner (a friend of mine) calls me and says, "you gotta see this bike". I came in, took it for a ride, and bought it. It is one sweet racing bike.
1973 Moser. Steel frame. Bought this from an old friend of mine. We raced together way back when, and I always liked his bike. I got in touch with him again a few years back after I heard he had multiple sclerosis. He needed the money, and I needed another bike (or so I told my wife). It's still a nice racing bike, and it's my backup / rain bike now.
Jamis cruiser, steel. Ride it with my kids.
1989 Cannondale M400 MTB, aluminum. It's at my mom's house in PA, and I ride when I visit.

Here is my "new" ride. A 3 week old trashpicked circa '79 SR SemiPro 12 spd. w/ full Shimano 600 gruppo.
Alot of degreasing, a little sweat and a small amount of cash and this is whaat I've ended up with for now. My other is an '83 Schwinn Traveler 12spd. Great bikes!

Woo HOOOO!!! Just picked up an '04 De Rosa King Carbon. I can't wait to get it late next week, will post the pics when I get it built up. I'd have loved to get it built Record, but I already have a DA group and I'm not going to spend 3K more for the brand police to be happy . But I sure am happy!!! I jumped on the Competitive Cyclist sale, but jumped too late and was crushed, then 10 minutes later found the same bike from Cbike for $500 less and was thankful I'd been late to the CC sale!
