Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I am literally crying at work from laughing so hard. You are either really funny, or a total idiot. Whichever it is, you mad me laugh harder than I have in a while, so I'm glad you exist.

As for certification, it's an internship requiring a number of student skid marks. You work with a certified shop and you have to Have your students perform a certain number of skids under the indirect supervision of certified coach. Which, to the person Looking for a coach, is helpful bc the interns are usually cheaper while they are working on their certification. Sometimes free.

I only know all this because I just called the Freewheel. Barry's Bikes and Boards has a program too.
It took about six weeks for me to complete my certification and I had been whipping sw8 skids for about six years now. You have to be really familiar with angle theory before they let you near a student.
There's an Angle Theory for Dummies book that really helped my skidding game, I highly recommend the OP read that.

Also, OP, I recommend getting skid specific tires. If you haven't bought these tires yet, then you haven't maximized you skidding potential:https://www.schwalbetires.com/bike_ti...es/durano_skid

Everyone is right op. Skidding coaches are a necessary investment in your development as a fixed gear rider.

Also why have I been taking out student loans when rubes like this abound?

+1 to everything in this topic, ****ing angle theory killed me.

however somewhere out there, a skidding coach is weeping as we mock his profession.
