heck yeh! That’s awesome. You should do some audio / video recordings for the memories if nothing else!!

Then last night I did this to my gravel bike. It is going to the wheel builder next week. 2019 is turning out to be a bad year for wheels.

I rode 16 miles of singletrack, gravel and pavement with it this way. Didn't see till this morning.

Today I took the tires off my mtb to swap in more gravel friendly tires. The rear inner tube was over 450g! With the tire swap and a new tube, I can probably save 1-2 lbs.

Heck yeah! That’s crazy... I’ve never contemplated tube weight, but I’m sure there’s something there, especially on large mtb tubes. I’m currently in the market for some new tires for my main steed. I’m running an nos freedom branded thickslick on back and a s-works gripton up front. Somewhere in the near future I would like to run a matching tire set and nice tubes

I reversed my brakes for cyclocross reasons. Hope I don't die this spring.

Did you do it on all your bikes? I'd be worried about having one setup opposite of the rest.

Swapped both tires and that one tube, and the bike is noticeably quicker! Can't wait to try it on some gravel! Had a blast on the road.

Do you have a performance bike near you? They are going out of business, just bought some lightweight 700c tubes (75g I think) for $6 each. Thickslicks are pretty heavy too, bet you'll lose some big weight swapping those. Victoria G+ speed tires are about 200g, probably worth a look.

I do have a performance here in town. I bought my first single speed SE draft (what a piece of crap) from them over a decade ago and quickly realized that’s all they were good for. I definately need to go scoop up some consumables while they’re cheap. Last I heard the local one was marked 50% off everything. Those tires are actually what I was looking at. Definately going to go have a peek this week

Look for the Performance elite bib shorts too. They are regularly $100. Got a pair for $48, and they fit really well. Haven't ridden in them yet, but they are very comfortable.

Stupid rain! Opting out of my interval workout on Fiesta Island and instead am going to do a trainer spin for an hour and then ride straight to work (8 mi). That's OK, was a little short on a sleep and not feeling entirely motivated to hammer this morning. Was still pretty sore last night from the weekend's endeavors.

Decided today after staring at my triple tri frame that I’m going to strip it raw and give it a little flare with a light mist of pink flaked clear coat over the raw steel. I like the matte black but the white logos really irritate me and are screen printed not decals. Bleh I’ll probly start disassembling and hopefully get it stripped tomorrow

Went for an early ride down to the UofA campus and did a couple laps on the main stretch
they call the “mall”. It’s a nice little ride through the south side Barrio neighborhoods, and through downtown. Especially early on the weekends. Explored around campus on the bike paths and through the heart of campus
Again especially nice early weekends when all the hungover students are still asleep. I like riding around campus too because the scenery kind of makes it feel like I’m in another city temporarily... plus very nice smooth concrete and asphalt surfaces.

Then I rode to the tattoo shop my best friend works out of and his wife (also his apprentice) gave me a somewhat spur of the moment fun piece. Childhood nostalgia!

I usually work 6-7 days a week so it’s rare to have a Saturday off... it was much needed. The simplicity
and relaxation of today has me feeling tired, yet rejuvenated.

Last night I did a 58 mile ride starting at 12:50 AM. It took about four hours with one stop for coffee.

https://www.strava.com/activities/2088443518

Apart from the convenience store parking lot I think I saw less than a dozen moving vehicles. Only three motorists actually passed me. Riding in the fog was pretty interesting. I'm going to try to do this more often.

Took a spill at training camp this weekend going down Banner Grade from Julian, at a bit over 35 MPH. Rear wheel slid out after I nearly missed a sharp right hander and tried to corner it - but my rear wheel didn't make it. No concussion, broken bones or other crashed riders so I'm lucky. Just some nasty road rash below my right knee and lesser road rash all over.

We had a sag vehicle so I was able to catch a ride home. Looks like I'm starting this rest week a bit early!

A crash is always difficult to hear about but I'm glad you are relatively OK.

Go get checked by a doctor, just because you have insurance.

Thanks guys. @TimothyH going to the Dr's is always a good idea and the copay is marginal but I may try to ride this one out. I got in the shower and scrubbed and soaped right away (ouch!) and got doctored up real good. One of the guys on the team is an ER nurse and he sent me home with a ton of tegaderm, xeroform, gauze and other goodies. Only one of them is deep enough to still be exuding and the others are minor and on tegaderm only. Still changing them twice a day but if they continue to improve I'll be at once a day and tegaderm only soon enough.

This ain't my first rodeo but as with anything better safe than sorry. If they're not markedly better in a couple days I'll go to the Dr's.
