So much misinformation in the ad, and about $150 too expensive...
But these were very cool cheap bikes BITD.
https://boston.craigslist.org/sob/bi...115596213.html
Strong brakes
Made in USA
26” wheels
16 speeds
Hasn’t been used in years so it could probably use some tuning/oiling up, air in tires, etc

Not really, but still, I love that stuff. And old 'Dales. Great catch-all title. No Team or Comp in any literature, and certainly not with VP cranks. Cool colors, nevertheless, and at least $150-200 too high given the condition--and that is supposing the paint isn't totally trashed (looks good from here--great sign!).

This thing is sexy!
Size 54. 500 mi on chain, new rear wheel last Dec. Shifters and cranks are ultegra, brakes are 105. Comes with bottle cage, saddle bag, pedals; bike computer and lights are not included.
Never thought I'd wish I had shorter legs as often as I have recently during the great Covid bike drought...

Yes, there is one the other stay as well, they are for the cranks to clear the fat tubes.

If that CampI water bottle wasn’t missing the lid that would be a great deal.

BG,
Too bad we are in IN. The wheels alone are worth the price of admission, along with the good bits hung on it. Smiles, MH

Man, this looks like it’s in great shape! I want it! It looks like the original DA 7410 components are still on there in original condition, that alone is worth the asking price...

Vintage 1970s Raleigh Grand Sport + rare custom parts
Posted 2020-05-01 01:23"This was my dad's old road bike. He was killed 5 years ago on his motorcycle by a drunk driver. I have held on to the bike for sentimental reasons, but I hate seeing it sit when an enthusiast or someone who knows more about bicycles than I do could use this bike or restore it to its former glory. I don't know much about it, but I remember him telling me about some of the more rare parts that are on this bike. He told me this was top of the line at the time and very expensive. I have included as many pictures as I can of the bike and parts. Any questions feel free to contact me. I am willing to accept reasonable offers for the bike. Eight 0 three 4 six oh 2 two oh 1."

I appreciate the recent Cannondale listings. I've had an idea that I'd like to try one of the OG oversize aluminum tube frames, but they're difficult to spot in a 54-55. Ideally I could find one in a mid to late 80's paint color, but they're all blue or red, or occasionally that battleship grey.

There's a sweet purple one from Ohio on FB. I'll try to find again and pm you. I have some info from seller - but it was too small for me.

Thanks for that ad, KiwiMtnClmbr! That bike has been through the ringer, hasn't it? Is Cannondale paint that fragile?
