A day out on the powerlines. I try to make due with what I have close to town. Pretty cool in some spots. MUddy and tick-y in others.
yuck for the next few
Dropped the helmet in the mud but saved it without much damage.

Well there will be no riding for me until mid September due to the desert location I'm currently at. Which is a bummer. So put in that extra mile for me and by the way it will be 111 degs here today.

The trails will all be here (plus some new ones) when you get back (guy I know is building some nice stunt lines up off Indian Trail). I'm predicting a nice, long rideable Fall.

chamois pad in the shorts. a little tire buzz on the butt on that one, but the boys never even got close to hitting anything.
Today. A new (to me) local spot. 1.5 mile road spin from home. Some mellow carriage trails, and one large loop with a lot of burly steep stuff up to a lookout tower. Not really made for bikes, but fun. Overall a mediocre riding spot, but with a redeeming quality of being...1.5 miles from home.
A mid-ride lunch of Irish and Portuguese descent.

Hey, a newb here.
I went for my first trail ride yesterday, around a small lake that's very close to my home. Spent a part of the route on horse trails which is a killer, it's like riding a washboard. I was very glad for the suspensions. Also got to do a bit of climbing. This route should be a nice start to getting fitter.
I love the pictures posted in this thread, it makes me wanna go go go biking. At the same time I feel pretty inferior. I've got a lot to learn.

Took my bike on my first real trail ride today. Lots of singletrack and a few spots were used by 4 wheelers although not recently I don't think. It wasn't too technical but there were a few spots where picking the right line made a huge difference. Almost crashed into a huge rock once but managed to save it. Also found an awesome bowl with about 20 feet of elevation change around 60% grade I'd guess (thats huge here in Florida) and was able to get down and up on my first try. My friend lost it once in some sugar sand and had to walk off a "man injury" but he is fine. Overall, I'm hooked. Best part is that these trails are less than 3 miles from my house.

A couple from yesterday.
Spine line. Drop line above it ends with either this, or some smooth roller options further back. Tricky lefthander into the top of this - miss and it's a good tumble into some rocks.
Monkeyfist on a roller. Hadn't met him yet; turns out we haunt several of the same forums.
Drops to so little tranny it may as well be flat. RR here wanted to work on his drops, so we sessioned a bunch of 3-4' stuff there. The place has endless session spots of anything from 1' to as big as you want to go. With Kick ass techy trail in between sessiony bits.
The Green Monster. Lotsa moss. 30' top to bottom, not counting runout - which there isn't much of. Damn near vertical. A couple steps in it that will kick your ass end up if you hit them wrong, and a little lip at the top. One narrow notched spot to line things up proper. I'm really, really wanting to roll this sucker, but really have to sack up to it. Haven't seen anyone else do it yet - that would help. It's there when me and the full face are ready. This pic is a good 50'+ away from the base.

Went out to Patapsco Valley State Park (McKeldin Area) in Carroll County, MD today. My first time in that section of the park, and found it to be a nice, flat cross-country course. Definitely more suited to my skill level than the Avalon Area (which is extremely technical with lots of elevation changes). Since it was just me, I don't have any action shots, but I did snap a cell phone picture when I stopped for a break.

Went on my first trail ride with my new Giant Rincon today! Frankly, it was amazing. I found some new trails in the "Woodlot". Not a great place to begin because the trails are quite thin and very rooty. I went with a few friends. I few sideways a little and my arm got a little cut. And apparently, im allergic to somthing in the forest so i had this small allergic reaction. All in all it was very nice. Need to figure out my fork adjust thing though o.O
