I'm resonating your musings. Despite the fact that I'm a die-hard, stodgy old self-reliant yankee, I regret that paint was never something that I ever got into more than a rattle-can job. Now that I'm into restorations, I want to do it all myself rather than farm it out. Alas, I will probably just plod along the way I am for now.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder because I really like the contrasting colors in the suits. Even the green....
