Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Vireo: how about this one for next year - 750 miles, 26,000 feet of climbing, and as the FAQ says many riders will try and complete it in less than 48 hours. OMG !!!

The Gold Rush is 1200km and they are not 48 time limits. Brevets are not based on 15.6 mph avg. I will go to the link but PBP is 90 hours. Also 26K is not that much climbing for a 750 mile event so it could be done by some of the really fast guys.

Gold Rush is the same time limit as PBP. From the sit listed above "A rider must complete all 1200Km in the 90 hour time limit."

true - but what mark was saying above is that some riders are going to try and do it all in under 48 hours.

which is doable, by some. most will finish in the 70-90 hour range i'd guess.

You should know that there's been no ice cream in months...it's too cold to eat it now anyway. Chicken, fish and salads for you.

I'll check your PowerTap after rides and see if you burned enough cals to warrant a scoop of ice cream.

i usually only do local rides, but Seattle Rando isn't holding the Cascade 1200 next year, so i have to look elsewhere for getting "the big one" done.

Yeah but in FAQs when discussing personal support vehicles, they say they are discouraged, but still allowed (for $50 feee) because may of the riders aspire to finish in 48 hours. No time limit, but riders are out to do 48 or less.
