Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I need a new shovel to clean up after my blower. My neighbors all have those crooked ergonomic shovels and I have FOMO.

One of these?

Can confirm your FOMO is legitimate. They're way better than any shovel I've ever used.

I don't know if mine is True Temper or not. Maybe I should get some of their bike tubing decals on there

That was pretty much my experience with Canyon. I was seeing stock depleting day by day, from the bottom up while I dithered. If I'd waited another day, I'd have had to pay another $600 and gone with the Ultegra version, where stock was depleting slower. I did consider it but figured I could sell Mrs. GeneJockey on a $2400 bike easier than $3000.

"Twice the bike for only $600.00 more"

That's how I would have played it had the original choice been disappeared. I have agonized a bit too long and had to employ tactical explanations.

Better to ask for forgiveness. Of course, that will cost you a shopping trip for the wife.

Years ago, I was buying some camera gear, and the sales guy was trying to upsell me on a lens saying that it was only $600 more and quite a bit better. I told the guy that that was incorrect - that by the time my wife got done with her revenge shopping it would actually cost me at least twice that much.

Thats why I bought her the domane al3. It was the last one trek had, the only one in a 49 between the three trek stores in my area, and the only one they were going to have until the end of 2021. They had carbon ones in stock but I didn’t want to spend that much, and two I was worried with her having carbon for her first bike.

Don't have a backup wheel or a backup bike to use as an organ donor short-term??

This is the beauty of your wife purchasing a bike much more expensive than yours, you get a lot of latitude.

My R3 w/Di2 was still about $2500 less than her 105 equipped Guru (she bought pre marriage).

Yes busy. Lots of questions about shots but here we are not extending beyond stage 1A until we are notified and I have no idea when that will be. I am guessing in a few weeks.
