Just my opinion but those brackets seem like they'd be a little "flexy" to use as a cable stop - (even though it looks like it was designed that way). Especially with the weight of a full bottle bouncing up and down on it. I've seem similar brackets with a cut-out in them to allow a cable to pass through; maybe use a dedicated cable stop above the bracket with a cut-out if headset stack height allows?

Hmmm, I think you're right. There isn't room for it fit below my current cable stop, but with a bit of drillium action it should work out if installed on top. Or, if I find in my parts bin a cable stop similar in shape to the reflector, I could then put it underneath the reflector to reduce flex and avoid having to drill.

Well, I bought a regular cateye bracket, as well as the one pictured above with the cable stop. It was good to buy both, the cable stop type bracket had rust, and a bit of a crack along the bend at the end where bottle cage would mount. Even though these are surprisingly robust brackets, it didn't seem like the smartest idea to have it perform double duty in the state it's in. So I set the other one up, and it'll sit on top of my current cable stop just fine, I think. This post is just a thank you to this forum, really, I never would have thought of using a reflector bracket in this way on my own.

the bottles used to be smaller like this repro one I think.

Does anyone know how well these fit in the old TA cages? It's really hard here (NZ) to find vintage bottles and if I can order some of these and they fit well then it would be worth it for me, but only if they fit properly.
