Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You have peaked my interest in these tires as well. Thinking about picking these up and putting them on the new wheelset and putting the M model on the current wheels.

Kind of new. Tires on my madone were done. 7000 miles on them. They looked pretty crappy but actually the wear marks still showed life. Last time I rode it I got a flat on the rear and decided enough was enough. I had these GP5000 sitting for my Ritchey but decided to throw them on the madone to keep operational.

Also picked up the ballista helmet and the bontrager full frame bag for my checkpoint.

Chain is being cleaned at the moment.

Do you keep the Spirit of Gravel in there?

I have a strong aversion to bags on my bikes. I will tolerate a small seat bag on my gravel bike, occasionally, but that's it. I'd rather carry stuff on my body (IMO, YMMV). Then again, my riding doesn't demand that I carry a lot of extra stuff.

It’s for when I go into the mountains. I’m the opposite I hate carrying stuff in my pockets, and I also hate saddle bags. There are a couple of long gravel races I want to try and do, I would utilize the bag for those too. On my everyday ride, bag will not be on the bike.

I suspect you are dealing with significantly different weather conditions than I am, which might demand more space. So far, between jersey pockets and my hydro pack, I've been able to carry everything I need on me.

The races/events are 100 plus miles. I don’t have big enough pockets.

The races I've done have been around 80 mi, but it's also mild CA. Most recently, temps were low-40s at the start, and low-70s at the finish. I shed knee warmers, vest, and arm warmers during the event. Some went into a pocket. Some went into the top of my hydro pack. For most local rides, I carry a small tool kit in my middle jersey pocket. For races, I put the tool kit in a seat bag to leave space for clothing items in the middle pocket. Phone in my left pocket, snacks in the right pocket, high-carb mix in my bottles, and plain water in my hydro. This is what works for me.

If you don't like things on your body, I can understand why bike bags would become a necessity.

They seem like really nice tires for such a low price. I found an article that said that they were able to keep the price down as they are not built in the new Italian manufacturing facility, but I will be able to get a better feel once I get a few hundred miles on them, but so far I do like them.

So with my new Checkpoint, while I stuck with the 80mm stem that came on the full bike models for the 54cm frame, over the 10 or 12 rides I have on it now, I am feeling slightly cramped and started getting some issues in my elbows and hands. Found relief by riding with my hands on top of the shifters, but that is not safe in my view. Re-did some calculations now that I have everything setup and the seat dialed in and seems like I really need something between 85 and 90mm, so I ordered a Zipp Service Course SL stem in 90mm. Should resolve the issue.

That's just sacrilegious. But hope she enjoys the mods.

LOL she's had the bike for years and taken some big trips with it. But it's always screwed up her back. We suspect that she was sold a bike that was too big for her and with too long a stem. We recently took a trip with a flat bar Bike Friday and she had no back problems, so we going to set up the LHT with a shorter stem and flat bars with a little sweep and see if helps.

A new air mover for the indoor cycling season:

Essentially a commercial air mover for drying carpets, etc., with the addition of a remote control for the handlebars. 500 CFM air movement, claimed air speeds up to 32 mph.

Aren't you afraid all that headwind is going to slow you down?

Doesn't have to be a headwind. Could be a tailwind.

Altangle Hanger Connect. Truly a one of a kind tool, just do you really need one and even with their Black Friday Sale it's a real, how much is this thing!? I actually got away for years not having an actually work stand but I have a vertical bike stand, so I have been using the Connect on that, which I guess saves on space
https://altanglecycling.com/products...xoC13sQAvD_BwE

SRAM eTap AXS 4 Port Charger. Another really nice thing to have but it's not 100% necessary and the $120 retail is somewhat absurd, but got this on sale for BF and it really comes in handy that my two bikes both are SRAM AXS eTap so now I am not charging each battery one at a time. The single battery charger is now for the car or for when I travel
