When was the last time you rode your bicycle?

Resident smartass.
Yesterday. Went on a ride out to Tranquille, then into Lac Du Bois Provincial Park for a short ride along the Tranquille River.

I'm riding on it right now!
FG gravel riding on dikes before the big rains come tomorrow. Super strong headwinds on the way out. Just stopped for a muffin and coffee in a small farm town before the return trip.
On a whim I responded to a FB marketplace ad for a $40 fixie missing some parts (which I had) expecting only to tinker a bit and flip but found a pretty nice bike and decided to learn how to ride it.
It's a lot of fun and I'm digging the simplicity plus it turns a boring ride into a great training opportunity.

Well, get a kickstand at least, so it doesn't look like a chalk outline would be drawn around it
That's too nice to be lying around on the job.
And Yesterday.

Ha hah!
You would be amazed at how hard it is NOT to add anything to a bicycle when you like it. I think.. maybe just a small tool kit under the seat, what about some fenders in case it rains. A bell a bell; surely one small bell... I'm even trying to resist adding the brake as I really don't need it (yet) for the riding I do with it.

I truly prefer brakes to breaks.

Saturday -- the day started nice, with a decent temp of 17C, but the temp dropped quickly during the ride and my feet are still cold!!
This was Rowan's first ride out to the end of the Cycleway since his accident!! A bit of a milestone! We've been building up the distance, and he's been exercising in other ways like gardening and walking, and we finally did it today.
Distance: 27.01km
Elevation: 222m
Moving Time: 1:37:05
Elapsed Time: 1:39:26
Speed: Avg: 16.7km/h | Max: 29.9km/h

Yesterday (Thursday). Went to the food bank, had a car assist because that's just way too much stuff for it.

A second 25 mile test ride on the new beater bike. On the bike path a few blocks from my house. On Wednesday. Beater bike finished.

I used to commute to work every day but since daylight savings, I hate cycling home in the dark. Just looking forward to those summer months again

Great news about Rowan.
Bad health and bad weather have kept me off the bike for about a week. But I think about Rowan and then i don't feel sorry for myself.

I went for my third MRI in about 2 months on Wednesday ... this time on my hip area.
Fortunately, the PT's assumption wasn't quite right.
Unfortunately, the PT's assumption wasn't quite right.
Around the end of Nov, I started feeling a bit of an ache in my right leg when running. Figured it was muscle. Rested a bit, did some stretching, and it felt a little bit better.
Ran a half-marathon, and could barely hobble by the end. Still figured it was muscle (the sartorius, to be specific, because of the groin and inner thigh pain), tried more rest and stretching, but lots of difficulty walking, and definitely no running. It even hurt to cycle.
Went to a PT who ran me through a whole bunch of tests and was pretty sure I'd fractured my hip ... stress fracture. No walking, no cycling, no running, no stretching ... nothing for a week until my MRI. If it were a stress fracture, I would have had to rest for the next 4-6 weeks.
But it's not a stress fracture! Instead, I've torn the cartilage in my hip and have really messed up the ligaments.
So it's not complete rest, but it is short and slow walking and cycling.

Friday -- 3 km walk to get dinner
Saturday -- Cycling!!
Distance: 20.75km
Elevation: 109m
Moving Time: 1:51:06
Elapsed Time: 2:17:21
Speed: Avg: 11.2km/h | Max: 25.6km/h
Plus 3.9 km walk to get dinner.
The cycling was surprisingly tiring for me for some reason. It was a great ride, enjoyed it, but my fitness level has deteriorated.
Sunday -- Cycling!!
Distance: 21.16km
Elevation: 139m
Moving Time: 1:36:38
Elapsed Time: 1:39:44
Speed: Avg: 13.1km/h | Max: 33.5km/h
Plus a slow 4 km walk.

Just got back an hour ago.
I have no dog ... and no co-pilot.
Nice night for a ride,though.

I ride early mornings to my job...janitor at a bar and grill. About 2 miles rt in Spokane valley Washington. Also everywhere else whenever. Have a child trailer...but we are having our third. Guess a car is inevitable now.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
There was sunlight when I started. After my planned stop half a mile away I rode 8 more miles. Next time I could take a light and maybe a helmet.

A bike lane recently appeared here. Today I had my first experience of riding the part between car lanes, where a car may cross the bike lane to enter a turn lane. The road is in rough shape, so I wonder how often do drivers use the bike lane to dodge potholes.

It has been nearly one week since I rode a bike. The weather has been good enough to skate to work.
