Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Gotcha. I'll see if anything obviously funky is going on down there. On my way home from work the left signal position on the lever didn't do anything, the right signal position on the lever activated the left side signals, and I lost the hazards. Got to be more centralized than just the signal switch if I lost the hazards, too, right?

Threw a cam position sensor code, got the sensor replaced. Few weeks later it threw the same code. After two days at the dealership and a reported call to GM they replaced the engine due to what they said was "excessive crankshaft endplay". I didn't question it much, mostly because it was just barely still under the powertrain warranty so I was thinking that I'd be okay getting a new engine at 60k if its free to me.

You said it kept running after you turned it off? Could be backfeeding somewhere but might be the BCM. Good luck, if you had a good scan tool it might help.

Saw a Camaro with the 3.4 v6 where someone installed a heavy duty clutch and the extra force would wear out the thrust bearing on the crankshaft. Coming to a stop the engine would stall because the crank would move so far forward it would lose the crank sensor signal. I learned something that day.

It did keep running, just once though.

I've got a scan tool but it's the bare minimum. It has thrown a code for EVAP P0449 but I can't really see how that's related.

Nothing obviously wrong at the BCM, everything is clean and no scorching or anything crazy like that. Still just starting simple and disconnecting the battery for an hour or so, the internet says that it should reset.

It can't hurt, at least.

Not a bad idea, disconnecting the battery. Evap codes are on the PCM side of things. Simple enough to test that stuff if you have a scan tool with outputs. If it just set once and hasn't come back don't worry about it.

On a more personal level, my small organization had been in discussion with a HUGE "partner" and previous to the current crisis, the consensus was to stay small and lean.

Now that my financially imprudent partners have lost a big chunk of change and are askeered, they have changed their mind and it's looking likely the group will sell out.

Sad. Very Sad.

We have two franchise restaurants in our area that have said they probably will never reopen.

EVAP is persistent.

New observation:

Key "Off":
  • hazards work correctly
  • L/R signal lever: no action

Key "ACC"
  • hazards work correctly
  • L/R signal lever position
    • L: driver side lights illuminate
    • R: driver side lights illuminate

Engine Running:
  • hazards INOP
  • L/R signal lever position
    • L: no action
    • R: driver side lights illuminate

I'm probably the oldest guy here except for Zona Tandem who has not been heard from for a while. This being so, I've likely experienced more aches and pains than anyone else here based on length of service and have devised solutions that may work for you. I've found in the case of my poor back, that the chiropractor does some manipulation and I can feel vertebrae pop back into place and discomfort disappear altogether of diminish. I reasoned that my neck is prone to the same issue.
THE CURE
Roll neck slowly left. Try not to break anything by rushing it. Then roll slowly to right. Repete a few times. Then reach to the back of the neck and you should feel one vertebrae that seems to be protruding. Push it around from left to right a few time and you should feel it pop back into place.

I do some neck exercises almost daily to maintain strength in the effected muscles and this helps minimize recurrence.
