A great-looking Shimano 600 Ultegra HB-6400/FH-6400 hub set from the late '80s, complete with the beautiful skewers. Alas, it's the Uniglide-only version, so I'll have to either find a suitable Uniglide cassette or a replacement Hyperglide freehub body now.

This came in the mail yesterday from @jyl. I knew he was sending me some sort of trinket but had no idea what it was when he asked for my address.
He had visited the Singer shop in Paris 2 years ago and brought it home as a souvenir.
I was totally blown away when I opened the package. I must be feeling better from my injuries because I was starting to go into a deep funk, feeling sorry for myself getting restless. It sure brightened my day and helped me to remember all the friends that have visited, written notes or called since I went down 3 weeks ago and I realize I'll get by with a little help from my friends.

I don't buy all that much anymore online, largely limiting myself to the lone swap meet I attend each year. I haven't bought a frame or bike on ebay in years. But I was on there the other day, looking for something unrelated, and this showed up in a search. Seller clearly knew what they were doing in regards to bikes, so I sent him an offer and he accepted. This is an Alain Michel frame from the 80s. Michel was a small custom French builder who reputedly built for LeMond. He also built for French shops; this, I suspect, was for one in Nice (You can figure that out too I bet). It touched all my bases: custom builder, with suitable obscurity and very good craft skills. The shop decals are a plus in my mind. No one else has one of these I think.

Third and last. It's next in line after the Terry Osell build, and will likely get C-record.

The first copy was misdelivered by the USPS much to my disappointment. I had planned on perusing through it during our flight to St. Paul but no such luck. Upon returning from our family trip though there it was sitting on the dinner table waiting for me. Amazon was quick to right that mistake. I am looking forward to readinng this.
