Anyone out there have a Genesis Electric Folding commuter bike? I just got one. I loved it the first two commuter days. Then it got a flat. I contacted their customer service for info on removing the rear wheel (which has the electric motor) and zippo response. I figured out the way to remove it is to unbolt the front sprocket to give me enough play to remove the rear wheel. There was nothing that came through the tire to give it a flat. I assumed a faulty inner tube. Genesis was no help.
Put in a new 14" inner tube. It has gone flat again. And this is after a total of 8 commutes on it with two flat tires! And now the on switch is malfunctioning.

Hell no.

Right now it's just going to be street driven until I can get into better shape. Maybe somewhere down the road with some much better componentry, it would be an "ok" off roader for some light trail riding. When I am ready to do some serious offroading, a new bike is going to be sourced.

I have had an Origami Gazelle for years now and I absolutely love it! It has held up wonderfully, and never caused me any problems. It is very light (only 28 lbs) and is ideal for commuting from class to class on my college campus. It folds up small enough to fit under my bed in my dorm!

My 4th folder (after a Strida 2, Dahon Helios XL and Dahon Mu XL) is a Tern Verge S11i, which I bought in 2013. It's got 4,700 miles on it and has been a very satisfactory commuter. I've also done a Century on it. I am especially fond of the Alfine 11 rear hub, which has the easiest maintenance regimen I've ever had in an internally-geared hub.

I never really named my bikes before. My main ride for the past year or so has been a Jones Plus. I just picked up a Verge Tour as well, and I find myself thinking of them as Fat Man and Little Boy, respectively.

I finally finished my '86 Dahon classic project. I always thought of the bike as a Brompton killer, somebody suggested "Black ops", I'm guessing "mini-me" has been taken.

Bought for $60 in 2007, sold the fenders & rack on ebay for $53, total cost to date is about $400. Or about $1000 less than a certain limey folder. Weighs in at 25.4 lbs.

What did you use to replace the bottom bracket? I have a 1990 Classic III that is nearing complete restoration/modernization. Bottom bracket, crankset and brake calipers remain to be done.

I could have used the BB on the bike, but it looked kind of heavy and cheap. Fortunately, I got one back in '07 from a local bike co-op and parts recycler, an old Shimano cups-and-spindle type. If you haven't opened your BB shell, you might not know that the shell is partly cut away in the back, thus, a cartridge BB won't fit. I got a pair of Tektro 556's from Aliexpress for $31, about half the domestic price.

I really like the Floridian color scheme on yours, I'm thinking of painting my frame a brighter color eventually. I can't tell from the picture, but if you're still on the steel rims, going to aluminum will at least double your braking performance. If you had an older model, you would have more room on the strut for water bottles and pumps

It's a "Kanga" rack made by Tern. It mounts to the head tube, which needs to have reinforced mounting bosses. A better image is here: https://www.ternbicycles.com/us/gear/471/kanga-rack
I've been very happy with mine. It's a little weird that the rack doesn't turn with the handlebars, but I didn't have any trouble getting used to it.

I bought my Schwinn folding E-Bike a 2-3 years ago and I love it again. When I bought it I used it quite a bit then the back wheel had a wobble so inspecting it I found broken spokes and other spokes that did not match. Took it to a few bike shops to get repaired and all said can not do it, spokes to small and do not carry. One also told me I was to large for it I weight about 235lbs. I found a shop in China that will custom make any spoke size. Mine are 94 mm about a 3G. Not knowing anything about spokes I ended up buying 94 mm 9G very beefy. Once they came I was afraid to do it my self so it sat for a long time. My wife said fix it sell it as is or throw it a way it is no good like that. So I got busy removed all spokes watched a few UTubes and set out. I had to drill out spoke holes bigger (next time I would drill rim bigger to allow the spoke to articulate better for better spoke angel.) Once all laced up took out my new Parks spoke wrench and it would not fit in that small area. so a very small crescent wrench worked. I had know idea how many inch pounds to use. We decided 50 inch pounds but what to use to determine it We used a luggage LED gauge on the end of the crescent wrench.Worked great We did it in about 4 rounds. Put tube and tire on then took to a bike shop to see how bad it was, turns out only 3 spokes needed a tiny tweaking. I have used it every day this summer and All is good.
