I have been trying to buy a vintage Campy equipped Bianchi road bike and found one locally. I'm trying to keep it pre-1987. I realize Eroica has not caught on locally, but I'm hoping it does happen in my lifetime. I'd love to ride in such an event. Here are pics of the bike I found locally. Any assistance to find out manufacture date would be appreciated. Thank you.

It appears to be a 1986 Bianchi Vittoria with OEM Campagnolo Victory.

It has a 7-speed freewheel... What year did Campy switch from 6 to 7? Did the 1986 Victory have a 7 speed?

I'd have to check the catalog to see just what this came with, but I bet it isn't a Campy FW, but since Victory was friction shifting they didn't really make it 6 or 7 speed.

Nice Bianchi though should be an awesome ride AF a good cleaning and overhaul.

The catalog specs a Regina BX 13-23T, silver freewheel. it does not state 6 or 7 speeds but if I recall correctly, the BX was available only as a 5 or 6 speed. Given the era, I would expect 6 speed.

Alright, Just joined the Classic Bianchi family. Just this week got a Bianchi frame (may be a 1981/82 ??) Here are the few pics that I took to ID the frame. Could you please help me ID this?
Its an Eduardo Bianchi with Piaggio at either side of the Seat tube.

It is definitely early 1980s based on the Piaggio decal. The serial number is not the standard Bianchi format for the era or that of their Japanese subcontractor. The serial number format, in conjunction with plain gauge CrMo main tubes, leads me to believe that it may be a 1983, upper entry level model, manufactured for the European market by Chiorda. Given that the European model names often differed from those of the American market, I cannot identify it but it is roughly equivalent to the one of the Sport variants of the era.

Yes, it's definitely entry level as it has down tube cable stops for stem shifters and stamped rear dropouts that require a claw mount rear derailleur. Almost certainly a European model by built Chiorda, given the serial number format. BTW, the C & backwards C characters are likely incomplete zeroes.

I have a frame which I believe underwent a respray in the 1980s or 90s
It has a cast head tube / lugs with the serial number 552056
The fork is 1" with the number 056 stamped on the steerer
The bb shell is 70mm Italian thread
The rear drop outs are pressed and stamped Bianchi. Spacing is 120 / 125 (some damage to the rear stays so we're not sure what was original)
There are no mudguard eyes or carrier bosses
Its quite a relaxed geometry with good tyre clearance.
It has top tube cable guides (3)
It is a bare frame that has been re-enamelled by a frame builder so some bits i.e. top tube guides may not be original. As you may have guessed by the term mudguards, this is in the UK.

Our best guess is 1970s entry level model but looking at countless pictures I can't find one that matches the lugs.
Any help appreciated

Are you sure it is a respray? Judging by the stamped dropouts it looks like a lower end frame. Maybe it was contract built by Bianchi

I should have mentioned that I own a small bike shop in Manchester, England. I bought it off a gentleman who built frames for over 30 years and who very kindly has taught / is still teaching me how to build custom frames in Reynolds and Columbus.
I found the frame in the attic when I was looking for some scrap to practice on.
It has the transfers of the previous shop owner on it but he can't remember anything about it. He has only really built his own frames apart from a few Columbus frames he bought in for a team he once ran and this is not one of them (we still have a few of these team frames and they are completely different)
I took it to the enamelers last Saturday (the same ones he has used for 30 years) and they say that the number on the steerer was put there by them so as to keep the forks with the frames during shot blasting etc.
However they can't shed any more light on it.
Judging by the plastic under shell BB cable guides, the top tube cable guides, the serial number starting with 5 and the Gipiemme seat tube, I know think this is a 1985 entry level model for the UK or European market.
I'm struggling to find any match with the head tube lugs on the hundreds of pictures I have looked at on the internet. They really are strange, but various people have told me that Bianchi used to do this one piece arrangement.
Why it was resprayed - I don't know but I'm asking around and hope to find out more soon!

Based on the serial number and apparent era, I'd say it was built by Chiorda using Bianchi components.

Hello, I was searching the web, for a Bianchi database, and could not find one. Many searches pointed here, to this thread on Bike Forums. So...i just now registered, and need some help identifying my Bianchi. I have read through this thread, and have come to the conclusion, that my Bianchi is Italian made. I believe it is a 1988/1989 model, and do not think it had a model name on it when i got it. It is a brazed lug frame and fork. The only thing not brazed, was the front derailleur, it was a clamp on. It originally came with an Ofmega crank (52-42), suntour shifters and derailleurs, and Modolo brakes. Here is a pic of the serial number on bottom bracket. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recieved this bike, as a gift in 89, and its my only road bike today. I have upgraded to a 7 speed, Campy Victory shifters and rear derailleur, and a Campy Veloce compact crankset.

I restored/repainted it, about 5 years ago. So, the original decals for tubing are gone. The tubing was "Formula Two", but i couldnt find a decal kit for that, so i put SLX decals on. (dont kill me, Bianchi purists) I mixed up some Celeste from a sample i got from Bianchi USA. There was/is a guy on Ebay, from Australia, who does good repop decals for classic bikes. Ill post some pix of the bike as is now, soon.
