Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

When I had trouble finding the Forte Classic I had become used to. I shopped around and found the Stella italia Q-bik. I love the Stella product line (not just the Q-bik) But I also found another Forte Classic, and bought an extra Q-bik too.

I never hurts to have a spare saddle.

Edit: Ah you said Fly. Different saddle. Don't know why I didn't pay attention to your post. -1 for reading comprehension.
Yeah, and I think the male vs female was one of the problems because my biggest complaint about the Fly was it was feeling too narrow.

No such problem with the Brooks...

Now to go buy 3 or so more to keep around for when the model gets changed or discontinued.
I've been looking at this saddle for a while but was a little hesitant to get it. Worst case I can always return it since Performance has the money bak back guarantee on all their products.

Just put the new saddle on the bike! Yeeeay. It feels good so far. Most of my rides are 1.5 hours or less for commuting only nowadays. Its definately firmer than the Terry Butterfly which was expected. Sort of like going from a sofa to a bar stool. I also feel my sit bones engage the seat so the width seems to be ok. On the Thompson masterpiece seatpost, I notice that I needed to have the front bolt much further in than the other saddle. Prolly due to the different angle of the rails maybe. Only minor beef so far is that the blue color is lighter than the blue on the bike. But that's the risk I took vs getting the black and white saddle.

Edit: Having trouble linking two photos fom flickr.com to here. FFS...

Heh. You found one of the few older photos I left on there. That's the bottom of a Bottlehead quickie preamp that I put together a while ago. It sounded good (battery powered instead of AC) but don't get to enjoy it in the livingroom with a 3 year old toddler around any longer. Ah well. By "DSD" did you mean Digital Slave Display?"

Back on topic, I tried the img tags in the brackets but something is wonky with the flickr URLs. They disappear in the post after using the tags. :/

Edit: Found the answer to why flickr.com images won't work with [IMG] [/IMG] tags: https://www.flickr.com/help/forum/en-us/128402/ They consider using those tags violates the link back to their site rule. Time to use another photo site...

Now, returning to our scheduled programming ...

I've been riding a Brooks B17 for the last 2.5 years and find it very comfortable, but I wonder if the narrow version would be moreso? Any way to tell without making the investment?

Thanks @wgscott. I figured it out now. Fixed the links to the post above. I have to click on the arrow below the image (for sharing), then select the BBCode option, then finally copy and paste the code in there.

Update: I rode on the Velo Senso saddle for the first time from home to work. The ride is usually about 1.5 hrs. Not bad. I notice a little more pressure when I slide forward and stay there in general. Chaulking it up to needing it "get used to it." Will see after another week or so. Definately notice that I don't catch my bib on the nose of the saddle. So the lower nose is working well for me.

Wow this thread is still going. I've put many many miles on this saddle since I last posted and it is still incredibly comfortable. When you don't think about your saddle at all on a ride you know it is doing its job.

Velo Jet Sense O (Titanium Rails) == Zefal Pro Saddle (Steel Rails) == KRYT Saddle (Steel Rails) == Velo VL-1220 saddle model number == Nashbar FR-1 (thicker padding, Titanium Rails). I just spent two hours looking at the undersides of these saddles which are ALL made by Velo of Taiwan.

Most (though not all) of the saddles in the world are made by Velo of Taiwan, even if most of them are not branded as such.

I buy my saddles by weight and aesthetics and I guess I'm lucky, becuase I never have any comfort problems with any of them. They all seem to comfortable to me.

Charge spoon is also made by Velo, I saw the underside of one and it said "Velo". Here is the 2015 Velo catalog :

https://www.velosaddles.com/wp-conten..._CATALOGUE.pdf

Their most classic model is VeloJet saddle has always been a clone of Selle Italia Flite, always had Ti rails, always about 205 gm. The "O" (Velo Sens O Jet) just means there is a cutout. Here is the 2004 catalog showing all the custom saddle options and stitchings back then, it's pretty darned cool:

https://neueinc.com/websites_examples...lo_catalog.pdf

Both Performance and Nashbar (when there is a sale) generally charge less than what Velo would charge (retail) for a saddle, so it's no use looking for a cheaper saddle from Velo. However, if your favorite Performance or Nashbar model disappears, Velo might still be making it so in that case buying from the manufacturer would make sense (0) :-)

Bringing this back from the dead, but I grabbed one from Performance since they're back to life. Its 33 or so there, and I think other places have it cheaper. Anyway, I did a short ride after getting it in today after riding around on a 134 Scratch Pro and man... I'm excited. I actually feel like I'm sitting on this thing after that. The shape reminds me of a Charge Spoon but flatter, and if this works out I'm looking forward to grabbing like 3 more

I'm pretty cheesed off about bike seats. What the hell is so wrong with the traditional saddle shape, that it's almost impossible to find anymore?

Being a bit of a weight weenie, I like a bare carbon seat, but the shape has to be just right with no padding. I have a Kuota-branded thing that's spot-on, but I can't find another carbon seat the same shape... The closest thing to it is the Tioga Spyder Twintail, and it's nearly as light as a carbon seat, but that's for a dry-only bike.
