I've been told that if it doesn't kill you it's good training. Your mileage may vary.

I've not done it (yet), but I've heard it's really not that bad of a climb, not a Hamilton or Fremont (both of which I HAVE done). Go out early, when it's cool (you know this) and have fun!

Mt. Hamilton is on tap for Memorial day... while long (18.4 miles), its average grade is 'only' 4.5%, so there must be some relief there. In any case, after these, a couple of laps up to Skyline should seem like a breeze.

Southgate is easier than Northgate. only the last quarter mile is seriously steep. nice climb.
You all should do it again in October for tarantula season.. then there will be someone slower than you.

Oh, I do. It's the only way I can make it up without falling over.

Recovery pace ride today. About 80 degrees with some wind. I tweaked the position on the Allez, bringing it to the same as the Look - I had somehow pushed the saddle back 2cm from where it's positioned on my other bikes, and it felt really long. Now I know why. 1:14, hrTSS 50, IF .64.

Decided to forgo the road race this weekend and focus entirely on track for the next month. Goodbye canyons; hello standing starts, motor-paced kilos, and endless flying 250s. I never thought I would be doing fast-twitch workouts.

In addition to the scheduled x-series intervals and pace this morning, I did three easy laps of Laguna Seca with the club this evening. My legs still work! Tomorrow is a rest day.

out walking the earth
day off, thankfully. openers tomorrow, and a long hard one on saturday. unfortunately it looks like a rain out, and a mother of an indoor session.

Gary - I feel your pain. Last month we had 2.5x normal rainfall, with last Sunday's ride in knickers, long-sleeved jersey and base layer...in south bleepin' Louisiana. The weather has been weird all over.

30' of 5' criss-cross intervals, then 30' at pace. Was a bit low on my targets - had to keep pushing the power back up, as I'm out of practice with having the brutal honesty of the PM. By the way, when calibrating the SRM, the setting was exactly the same as the calibration from the previous ride. Whoa... I'm not in South Dakota any more.
Bike beat me up just a bit today. I was on the canal, and the underpasses can take your fillings out at speed. Combined with the bigger drop, my back and arms were complaining. That went away when I stopped, so I still think I will adapt to it. If not, I have about a cm to play with - I just don't want to use it because it just seems wrong when I put the stem there.

Sprints at the Velodrome tonight. Doing flying 300's in different gear combos maxed out at 34.5-34.9 mph on every one. I need more speed! Last night's graveyard crit practice and a couple town line sprints on the return may have left me fatigued on top end efforts. Recovery week coming up with the Major Taylor Velodrome TT's on the 18th.

Track workout this AM and a gym workout in the evening. I am considering taking up Zumba to work on my core and ass.
