Nice score on this bike.

A DeRosa hater? You sure got lucky, there's not many of them around!

As for seat posts, how about a Laprade? They are relatively cheap, they're fluted, so you can paint in the slots if you like, they have a nice set-back and I think they look great to. I'm a fan...

Not your size, but there all over e-bay - https://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-SR-L...item19d6a252d3

Black seatpost is Al not carbon.

Pic from my commute this morning. Finally finished this guy up. The rear triangle needs some aligning... I've just been too lazy to do it. I switched out the post/saddle with a Selcof titanium and big-rail Girardi saddle.

Agreed.

Nice riders, aren't they.

Looks like you made solid decisions with the build.

Curious about the tires though, what are running?

They are 25 gators. Not the best riding tire, but they are rugged. I am thinking about getting new, higher TPI tires, for my Gunnar and put the 28mm Rubino Pros on this.

It's funny about Gatorskins.

I had a set sitting around here for several years.

Rode them for a few weeks and didn't care for them.

Put them back on last year when I was waiting for an order and I had three flats pronto.

Likely a coincidence.

I would treat that beauty to Veloflex Master 25s or Deda Tres RS Corsas.

They'll make her sing an entirely different tune for you.

I've had really pleasant experiences with the Conti GP4000s and GP 4 seasons...the Gatorskins seem like a good way to ruin the ride of a nice bike in my experience. I'd use Panaracers before those.

I like the Veloflex tires, but I do get flats and tire longevity hasn't been the best.

GMG - I meant to tell you, I bought my first pair of Veloflex tubulars. I wanted to keep the De Rosa anniversary as Italian as possible, in keeping with the spirit of the stock bike.

Yes, Conti 4000s and GP 4 seasons are very nice.

I like them just fine as well.

I've really gotten used to Veloflex tires, both clinchers and tubs.

I ride Criteriums on my older Chris Kvale. What a ride!!

I'm also curious about their Arenberg model.

Which one did you choose Aaron?

Hey Aaron, why do say that the Gatorskins ruined your ride? I'm curious, used to use them a lot.

They just feel very dead and boring to me...I've also had more flats with those than GP4000s.

My experience as well.

They flatted more often for me than my Challenge PRs, which have a rep for being h---aciously awful as far as durability goes.

Likely Criteriums!

I see those stocked most often.

Usually expensive, but if you dig around you can save a bundle.

What size are you guys running on your Italians? These days, I'm loving 25s - 28s, but feel like something like this should get classic 23s now...

Almost all of mine are 700x23, but I am going to try Master 25s on the Tommasini Super Prestige forum member TGB built for me this winter.

Oh man, I love that DeRosa. I totally missed this thread back in December, but what the heck, I'm a newbie. That was pretty close to when I got the Miele, so I was probably just distracted. I have a pair of Ultra Gatorskin 28s, that I've put a few miles on, and only had one flat, that wasn't really their fault. I have a pair of Vittorias, but narrower, I think 23cm, that I've still never tried, but we're really just now getting into bike season.

I only ride on 23's myself, and I concur with Gomango, the Deda Tre Corsa's are a very nice tire. They feel very lively. I've also had good luck with Michelin Erillium III's, and even with the kevlar band, they feel pretty lively and racy as well.

Your DeRosa looks great! I'd opt for tan walls though, but that's a matter of opinion I guess...
