I agree, but...
Seems 40% (cause there are not many) of the SoCal races are put on by colleges. Boulevard - UCSD, Santa Maria - UCSB. Then some of the better CO races are school sponsored too (CU Boulder, USAFA).
Sometimes what is done (paid) falls under what the school says should be done. Can't blame USAC for that, or even the promoter. But in the end it affects costs. That affects races.

My first name is one that is commonly shortened/changed - think Dick instead of Richard or Bill instead of William. I do not go by the shortened name. I introduce myself and have my work email signature with my full first name. Yet, some people still insist on calling me by the shortened version in person and in email. I find it incredibly annoying.

In music there's a thing that happens where if you learn a piece wrong, it is incredibly hard to undo your brain and re-learn it right.

The one that starts to wear on me is people who insist on seasonally making a hard change to the pronunciation of their name. Or at least that a large amount of people engage them in this folly.

Race promoter just accidentally mailed all 394 racers the filled-out release forms for all 394 racers. So now I have everybody's wife's cell phone number.
Bizarrely my form was #1 out of the 394.

My brother is Alex. Not alexander or any other permutation of that name. It really confuses a lot of people. It was worse when he was in Elementary/ middle school and ended up with 3 Alex's on his Soccer team. He became an abreviation of his first and middle initial. That has stuck. The fact of abbreviating a two syllable name to two syllable nickname is still funny to me.

hey, all:
getting ready to sell a bunch of gear and thought BF members might want first crack. drop a note if so.
i haven't gotten around to full descriptions and pics (i will have those before i list in other places), but if you want something before i do all that, i'll entertain offers.
here are some of the more interesting things off the top of my head:
* RD-6870 ultegra di2 11s long cage derailleur (32T max)
* zipp 808FC front & rear tubular, with fast tire glued -- lightly used
* zipp 303FC front tubular, brand new (replaced by zipp during the hub recall)
* zipp 303FC rear tubular (11s), lightly used
* zipp super 9 disc, clincher (11s)
* HED h3 tubular front, with fast, narrow conti tire w/ latex tube (pro edition)
* HED h3c clincher front ... maybe
* zipp 404 tubular wheelset (11s) ... maybe
* garmin edge 800, used (functionally perfect, slight scuff on touchscreen)
* garmin edge 500, used (reinforced the mounting tabs)
* garmin edge 820 (NIB)
* SRM PC7 (used, anodized aluminum/gunmetal case)
* SRM PC8 (black, NIB)
* zipp vuka bull aero base bar, carbon
* shimano TT brake/shifter - 9000 series/11s (ST-9071 set)
* some MTB parts, all new (sram GX 11s crank, RD, rear shifter; specialized command post (dropper), syntace flat force Ti stems (55 & 88mm)
* felt bayonet base bar + extensions/pads/etc (used only in the wind tunnel)
* kask bambino, used
* 2012 S-Works Venge frame/fork/post, 56cm, matte black paint (maybe)
* 2016 SW ViAS (rim brake) frame/fork/integrated parts, 56, matte black (maybe)
* cannondale F29 black edition (hardtail) with lefty, enve rims
also.... a canon 1d4 body and 70-200/f4 & 100-400/f4-5.6 lenses -- for someone who wants to photograph races.
i'm the original owner for all of this stuff and it's all in fantastic shape. in most if not all cases i have the original boxes/packaging (yeah, even for the 2012 frames).

@tetonrider
Me and or some close friends have some interest in those parts. I will PM you over the next 24 about interest / lack thereof.
I am going to admit that the DSLR is sooooo tempting. I used to do a bit of photography, haven't for a while, now have debated getting back into it....

Reminded me of my most recent sad story.
The two LUX U23 kids are staying 5 miles from the U23 Nats RR course and I ride following the kids, on the 56cm backup bike to the feed zone carrying 18 bottles in my reusable Trader Joe's shopping bag. There is no room for my video camera, so I put it on top of the bottles. I don't really need to go much further here, but there was leakage and camera kinda worked and went into perpetual zoom in/out mode and shaking the lens. It dried out after two days and half worked for the crit, but I found the lens covered with some water bottle mix.

I've thought about it, but I've done some paid photo work in the past, and it can be a grind. I would def do it just for the hobby aspect, though. I still have the 1st gen 5d and it holds up well
