Great to meet all of you today and thanks for posting the pics, Bob and Slushlover2! It was nice to see all the classic rides and man did we hit the weather jackpot. Hope to do it again soon. I'll admit my legs were a bit rubbery when climbing the stairs with a bike slung over my shoulder...

I'll get my picture of the large group from the Belmont waypoint up tomorrow. Meanwhile, mapmyride.com shows the RT Belmont-Promontory Point as being just over 25 miles. Ardmore-Belmont is 3, so the RT if you started riding there would be 31 miles.
Jack just asked me to total up the mileage, and said: 'If there's another ride like that, let's do it.' Thanks for being so welcoming to him, everyone.

Didn't realize till just now that Bibliobob stopped by the swap yesterday and purchased some things from me after chatting for a bit. How did the toe clips, fenders, and Cinelli saddle all work out for you?!
Also, I think Night Tiger may have been involved with the swap, and perchance sold me a Gitane frame I built up months ago. NightTiger=Paul? If so, he's a friend of another great vintage builder Billy David, who was at the swap with us, and we did some more trading today.
Good day there today. Lots of foot traffic, and I finally cleared out a small portion of what's in my garage. Looks like you all had a nice ride on some great bikes. Richard's Bianchi is sweet. JohnKnappcc, believe it or not I have two of the exact same green Voyageur. One in great shape, the other with some spotty finish that I picked up today at the swap.
Also Chicago Al stopped by the swap to chat a bit and got himself some new bars, and a pair of aero levers. Nice meeting you Al!

I didn't get to go to the ride OR the swap. One of my co-workers is sick so I had to work two twelve hour days in a row. Bah!

The group near the beginning of the ride at the N end of Belmont Harbor.
I think I got the names/handles of all the C&Vers but there were a few non-forum folks who rode and I'm not sure I have them right so feel free to correct me:
From L to R: Jen (?), Night Tiger, Bibliobob, Elle (Mrs Bob), Will (?), slushlover2, Beth (?), GiosCinelli, Barretscv, Craig (argyle), Big Chainring, Jack (Chicago Al Jr), JohnKnappcc.
Later joined by DCV45, though I missed him, and a couple of other folks, one of whom I think should join the forum under the handle 2ManyTreks.
And note that I am still obviously a n00b to this: Jack and I were riding Japanese bikes AND I took pictures of the people but not the bikes! My apologies and I'll try to do better next time.
Can't wait to do it again, and neither can Jack. In fact I think a nice long ride like this is likely within the next week for us.

Awesome pics everyone! Thank you for posting and thank you for the great ride!
Hopefully we'll be given at least one more nice weekend before the 5 months of Winter kicks in.
It was great meeting everyone, and I look forward to future rides together, and beer!

I (and another CVer or two) will likely be taking a ride down the path sometime tomorrow (off for Veterans Day) and again on either Saturday or Sunday morning, if anyone feels like riding along. Forecast for tomorrow is 59 and sunny. Nice.

I'll be up for the weekend, and I bet Jack will be too! So--particularly if it's nice--come on over, Bill! I might join up with you tomorrow, Bob, but I need to get my bars sorted out.
BTW I was joshing about the low status of our Japanese bikes. Something I appreciate about this forum is the lack of bike snobbery.

It looks like Barrettscv and I are going to meet at the top of the path at 1200 tomorrow for a ride, and probably meet Night Tiger a little further down the path.
Feel free to PM me if you want to meet up with us.
And, I'm game for a ride on the weekend as well.

Barretscv will be meeting up at 1130, rather than 1200. PM me if you plan on coming, so that we make sure to wait for you.

Someone (possibly a CV forumite?) posted this in Chicago CL.

https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en...cc0f083c29&z=9
I don't have enough vacation time to do this now, but in spring or summer I might do it.

It was another glorious, crisp, sunny fall day along the lakefront. However we got mixed up somehow and had the wind in our faces on the way S and again on the way N. We must have taken a wrong turn.
Mrs Chicago Al and I joined Bibliobob, GiosCinelli, Barrettscv, and Craig at Belmont Harbor. Shortly we were joined by DCV45, who had bargained to get the day off from work. The group splintered on the way south and eventually Mrs Al and I stopped for a snack and turn-around at McCormick Place. Bob joined us there, having given up on going all the way to Indiana as the speedy peloton evidently intended to.
The nice weather looks to stick around for a few days but may turn cloudy and possibly rainy on the weekend. If Saturday OR Sunday is clear I propose another group ride.

wow. nice bikes and some beautiful pictures. I hope I can make future rides. Sounds like a great time was had by all.
If the weather prevails for another couple weeks I love to join one of your rides. Otherwise count me in for the spring time for sure.
