Yes, it's nicely done, and has many nice touches. But dolling up a bike like that is a labor of love, and it is not realistic to expect to recoup the money and effort put into building it up in that fashion.

However, there are people who will happily pay those prices for resto-modded bikes like this particular bike. You would not believe what people are willing to pay for my plain-jane gaspipe British 3-speed restorations. Many folks think they are classy, and kitschy at the same time. I'm sure that this pandemic has put the kibosh on frivolous spending, but has it? The market is weird right now, but there is a niche market for nearly anything.
Then again, maybe I secretly love a mixte with forged dropouts.

Picky?Yes, but at that price the build should be near-perfect.
I believe he has the crank listed as a Cyclone. No idea if that's correct. Does look like a quite large BCD.

You're preaching to the choir! I personally would not care to ride a mixte, but my wife is like a ray of light on hers. I admire them for their style and artistic grace. The trouble is actually finding ones that are actually a step above, and not some piece of crap with stamped dropouts.

I'm almost done restoring a beautiful Motobecane I'm planning on listing so I've checked cl prices a couple of times recently. I was telling my son about the outrageous profiteering going on in the SF Bay with the pandemic lockdown. But even so, I was surprised at the examples I brought up today. A woman's frame/hybrid (POS!) for $1000. A Trek mtn bike converted into a single speed for $2000.
I'm just trying to clear out my garage a little, which is packed with maybe 10-12 bikes, and 5-6 frames, wheels, etc.
I plan on selling two vintage French bikes, full frame-up restorations, with upgrades, for $300 each. Same price I would have asked (and have gotten) pre-pandemic.
