On saturday, a few of us received hall passes from our wives so we drove over to Wenatchee for a day of riding.
In the morning we rode sage hills



Then descended back into town for lunch at Lemmolo's where Mr. Yeti watched over us.

After lunch we took some local advice and rode Number 2 Canyon.

Were we discovered a geocache at our turn around point.

And some sublime singletrack on the way back to the car

About 35.5 miles on the tandem today. After yesterday's Minuteman ride we got a late start and didn't have the energy to do the metric century Sharon was hoping for. She always wants to go further.

I woke up early so I could squeeze in a ride today and rode 47 miles. Beautiful cool morning, temps in the 60's. Johnston, Scituate, Foster, Coventry and back. Pushed it and made pretty good time.

Then a quick shower and off with my daughter to the Quonset Air show. My wife won VIP passes from her work, so we were pretty close to the action. I tried to do my best with photography.









It was my first air show and it was a lot of fun. My 4 year old daughter was getting restless so we didn't wait for the Blue Angels, maybe some other time.

My friend and I went out for breakfast to celebrate the anniversary of what has been a wonderful friendship... this restaurant has been serving some of the best meals in the city since 1942 and their breakfasts are the best.

I rode along the Saint Jo river in South Bend Indiana. The rock wall you see was built in the 1930s. There is a lot of this kind of stone work all along the north bank of the river extending for several miles. I believe that the walk along the river has been in place since then and has been added to and improved over the years.

Decided to do some climbing today and discovered someone's cool cabin with a pond tucked away back in a canyon. The cantilever brakes did ok on the way down - was thinking about half way that discs would definitely provide a little more security. There are some steep gradients.

northbend - east of Lion's Rock - probably 10-15 miles. I live about 10 miles NE of Ellensburg within 4 miles of the Naneum State Forest which is where these photos are from.

I rode 49 miles on a hot and humid day, slightly cooler than the last two. Rode the Cinelli again.

2 miles on a hilly, loose dirt road being pursued by deer flies (they didn't get me).



went the wrong way at this little roundabout in the woods but still hooked up with the right road.



I ordered the parts I need to get the De Rosa rolling again today, so I should be back on that bike in a week or two.

My sweetie told me I could take the Masi out today, it being a solo bike instead of our tandem. As I was prepping the bike in the front yard my neighbor asks "Are you coming or going?" I said I was just going. He said "Give me 15 minutes and I'll join you." So he grabbed his lugged-steel frame Serrota and we rode off! 44.5 miles, more than he was used to doing on his early morning sprints, not quite as far as I was hoping for, but respectable. We did it faster than I usually ride. I'm usually more comfortable riding with no one around me!

Got my first flat in those expensive Open Corsa tires. Picked up a sliver of glass about 15 minutes into the ride. Fixed it and we rode on. It was a good day!

I did my normal 30 miler out along Coeur d'alene Lake to the end and back. The Ironman tri event is tomorrow and I always like to stop and get a look at the bikes. I gotta say, I am liking this Prologue more with every ride.

I rode with my triathlete friend today. We rode across Mobile Bay, it's a popular local route but it's the first time I've done it. It was a great ride. The pic is from the top of the Cochran Africa Town Bridge that spans the Mobile River and the Port of Mobile. It's a terrible picture I know but it's a major shipping road because I-10 that goes through Mobile is a tunnel and so many trucks are not allowed through the tunnel and that bridge is the alternate route. There's a good shoulder for riding but standing out far enough and getting a good picture is not a good idea.

Once you get over the bridge the old Causeway across the bay is great. it's right on the level of the bay and we saw two big alligators this morning but we didn't stop for any picture taking.

Today, I rode our Bilenky 650B Constructeur Tandem for the first time. We rode out our house to Harpers Ferry over the C&O Canal towpath and back. Tomorrow is a road ride which will probably be around 30 miles or so.

Had a great ride today up to Mount Lofty Summit it was quite wet so had to be careful as moss grows on these roads. I rode my Ricardo which handles these corners beautifully "not a straight corner in sight around here" and climbs like a goat, the lower parts were dry enough to push hard through corners.
