I find myself in a training/riding quandary.
I want to ride farther and faster, but I've no interest in racing, or even group riding (burned out on that 20 years ago). I don't know if I want to do more structured training to reach my goals, since my goals are so nebulous. OTOH, when I get on Zwift, like last night, determined that I'm going to spend the whole time on Z1/Z2, because I was thoroughly cooked after Wednesday's TdZ ride, I end up riding tempo at least 1/3 of the time, opting for climbs instead of flats, etc. IRL, it's easier - on weeknight rides, I try to 'leave it all on the road', which I can do because I know the hills to charge up and how hard I can push and JUST be running out of gas at the top, or how hard to push on that flat section, and where I can rest up a bit for the next effort. Zwift, I'm largely responding to the resistance I'm feeling through the pedals.
So, I don't know whether I want to leap into the world of structured training, partly because it seems structured around getting fit for a particular event, versus merely being more fit.

Once again, no mushrooms. No hot A-1 sauce either. I actually gave the manager a list of complaints before I left. Im sure he canned them before I was out the door.

Legs are fried from yesterday's zwifting session. I could only muster 239 watts ave today. Think it might be time for a chain on the trainer unit. Sounds rattlie... in certain gears.
finished up the new 55mm wheels yesterday, by taping them and installing tires and tubes. With 2 layers of tape I can mount the tires by hand, so that's a win.

When I started today it was 16 degrees with a feels like of 2. I had 2 pair of socks, 2 shoe covers, tights over tights, 2 thermal base layers, jersey and jacket and a smartwool gaiter.

I sold my 43 year old Gianni Motta last fall. It was a fine machine but the lady of the house said that I had to start selling or move out. I like having a roof over my head and she's kind of cute, so...
