IBC (probably) hydraulic brakes, and the original Grip Shift. It actually looks like the front brake is different from the rear, which looks like a Magura.

Excellent find. Looks like a mess of a set-up but with some time sorting out, great deal. The clocking of those cranks like that would drive me nuts. My guess the brakes and shifters were swapped out. The front looks all goofy.

A price that low is either a screaming deal or else betrays someone's knowledge of undisclosed damage. Not enough detail in the photos to be able to tell. Hope a deserving buyer gets this one.

I'd guess someone gave up on swapping out brake levers and shifters - they probably wanted to ditch the Gripshifts but then tried finding 6sp or 7sp brifters with hydraulics and lost all hope

I'm thinking there is a dent on the right side chain stay. Otherwise that price is effectively "free" for a tandem. The other stuff can be made right easily enough.

Dent is factory spec - for crankarm clearance.

Similar vintage catalog scan:

I think the dent seen is factory made for crank clearance.

So I see. I guess that's what you get when you run those wicked-big oversize alunimuminuium tubes.

You see these for sale frequently...often almost unused, and frequently at prices you'd assume to be insanely low if you haven't bought/sold tandems. The one pictured is HIGHLY unlikely to sell for even half of asking price IMO. I passed on one at $400. Not quite as nice, but nice. Often you'll see them frame only ebcause the main value is the parts...they're frequent part out targets.

Personally, I think the T and Cs are MUCH more desirable for most people.

Right. A similiar Paramount tandem came up in the Atlanta area and the guy couldn't move it. About 400.00 sounds like what he was asking.

+1 $400 sounds like a deal but I agree vintage tandems seem to be a buyer's market. Not difficult to understand; not many people want one and they are a bear to ship.

They have very little value as riders most of the time, and, IMO, these are among the worst. If you want a vintage Schwinn tandem...the t and c is a much better choice.
