I lucked out and a bike shop in Philly that has tons of old/used parts had the correct 105 pedals with toe clips. Unfortunately they're mediums and I could use a large. So I'm kind of on the search myself. I'd keep an eye on eBay I guess.
The original ones were black plastic. Any toe clips with three holes on the base would work though.

I took the frame apart to clean all the components and the frame itself as pretty much everything was quite spotted with some greasy and oily residue. I'm hoping to clean and lubricate the bottom bracket while I have things disassembled.
I'll post a picture once everything comes together.

The tandem was still in the minivan, so it go chosen for Friday's ride. It's so stable on gravel that i rode some hard packed trail as well as paved.
What's the old saying? = train hard and heavy, race light and smart.

Saturday's weather was sunny and warm - time for a classic ride, before the cars get to go.
Mt Rainer Nat Park, the ride to Sunrise Visitors Center.
From the Park entrance @ 2750ft to Sunrise @ 6400ft covers about 20mi. - with a few dips the climbing is surely over 4k.

Less than a week to go before we leave for this year's Retroronde and Eroica Britannia, so today was the last opportunity for testing the bikes that we'll be taking along. Lovely summer weather, so we went for a 60km ride around the lakes to the west of us, near Leiden.

Wish I had the scenery around here that some of the rest of you have. But I am getting better miles on the weekend now.
Last weekend from my house to the nearest town aboard my trusty 84 World Sport.
Today I decided to get off the flats and into the rolling hills south of town. Kind of a training run as a build up for a century ride later this year.
28.23 miles in just over 2 hours averaging 13.92 mph on my Passage. A couple of years ago this ride would have killed me but today I really could have kept going if I hadn't had a morning commitment to get back for.

Actually, @ryansu, it wasn't much of a report.
But the beauty of the ride is in the other senses (in addition to visuals).
The views are not expansive as you begin the ride, but listen.... waterfalls, streams under short bridges, birds.
The best parts of the ride just can't be conveyed wirelessly - you gotta be there on the right day.

Monochrome Monday?
The Windsock and Crystal Ball Guild (weather-guessers on local TV) predicted sunshine for yesterday's ride to Stillwater. That didn't happen. The sun didn't come out until late afternoon, while I was taking a post-ride nap.
So when I processed my photos, I did them all in monochrome, shades of grey, black and white.
Well, all but one...

A hundred years ago, when I was a bike shop mechanic, I had a customer who rode a tandem alone in NYC. He said he picked up women in Central Park. When he told me what the most popular saddle was for women, I trusted his advice.

Another solo ride, seem to be my usual anymore. 52 miles before the rain, about 50% road 50% trail.
I took the Clockwork which I am trying to ride exclusively this year.
This snapper was bigger (think toaster oven) than he looks. I kept an eye on him until he made it across the road.

I've seen go pro footage of people carving through narrow forest roads, covered with supple boulders, rocks, and fallen tress to cushion a crash, at a astounding pace and thats the image that always conjures up in my mind when I see someone with a mountain bike similar to yours. But I think thats more on the extreme side of things.
You did a fine job restoring that second bike, it looks beautifully put together it appears to be quite comfortable and something well rounded for leisurely exploring a town or citry, or just for regular commuting.

I am much less aggressive than most people who make mountain biking videos, most of the ones you see are people with bikes that have 6-8 inches of suspension travel on the front and the rear wheel. It really allows them to just plow through anything!
Saturday I got out for my first century in about 2 years. 101 miles and 3000' of climbing in 7 hours 21 minutes moving time. Almost 8 hour exactly from the time I left my house to when I got back.
Overall, things went pretty well until around mile 70 when I quite suddenly and intensely became enemies with my saddle. That forced me to spend a lot of time out of the saddle which ended up aggravating my shoulder. It seems pretty obvious that the C15 is not the saddle for me. Found a NOS Selle Anatomica X on Craigslist that I'm hoping to pick up before this weekend's 200K. Given reviews of how these saddles are "instantly comfortable" I think I'm going to roll the dice and throw it on, taking a single 20-30 mile ride before the big one. Honestly, I can't see how it would be any less comfortable than the current 70 mile hatchet that's on my bike now.
A few observations from spending 7.5 hours on this bike:
- I packed way too much food. I had brought literally 3 times what I ended up eating. Noted for the future.
- The handlebar bag was loaded way too heavy (see above). I also brought too many tools/spare stuff. I did need to bring a spare tire since the night before the ride I noticed that my rear tire was starting to show casing through the tread, but I really needed this training ride so I crossed my fingers and went anyways. No flats! Its a miracle!
- Given the excessive load in front, I started getting some really undesirable handling traits, especially on loose surfaces. The front wheel wanted to slide out from under me a lot. Low trail conversion is probably on the wish-list for this winter, but I'll probably just try and get a bigger saddle bag and distribute more tools/utility items in there to unload the front.
- I need a bigger cassette. My knees were getting pretty sore by the end, even with 34/28 low gear. The route was quite hilly, though, so its not surprising that I was hurting afterwards.
- Podcasts aren't too bad to listen to on the bike. I used a bluetooth headset with an earbud in my right ear only. It would be nice to have some kind of wind shield over my ear to keep the wind noise down, but overall it helped pass one of the hours. On the flip side, though, I don't really remember those miles when I was listening to the podcast. Jury is still out on whether I will continue this practice in the future. I like listening to birds and the road noises, but it might be a good way to get through an especially tough section mentally.
- I still love big tires. It's awesome to look down at your tires and watch them flex and soak up all the bumps that would usually go straight into the handlebars.
I probably came up with some more profound observations, but that's all I can remember for now.

Chasing shadows, admiring the winding stream, and liking a little easy gravel.
I realized I had not ridden the 'rain' bike in ages. I love the ride of this taller bike, Austro Daimler Olympian (full 531). Maybe it's the narrow bars. It may have to lose the fenders. Somebody mentioned liking a Huret RD, this one sports a Sachs-Huret RD that just works.
