Five and half miles cruising around the neighborhood .
Ten days straight with a 5.11 average , on about six different bikes .
This was today’s choice .

Friday was COLD and WINDY but Sat. and Sun. turned out great, 60 F, sunny with a bit of wind so we headed out on the area urban and rail trails, bike lanes and back streets. We managed 43 miles for weekend, which is great as the weather here in So. CO. is very change able in the Spring months! By late Mon. night, we are suppose to have a "snow/rain mix" from Mon. thru Sun. arrugh!! Here's a photo of me taken by my wife Jo at the Pikeview Reservoir here in Colorado Springs on the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail System!

My neighbor and I rode in the "Tour de Paws" charity ride to raise money for the Spartanburg Humane Society. Originally, the route was 36 miles, but somewhere around mile 7 the rain (which was supposed to hold off until well after the ride was over) showed up. With no rain gear with us, and the temperature dropping almost 10 degrees in about 15 minutes, we opted to take a short cut. My neighbor experienced his first flat around mile 11.5 which was quickly changed, and we finished up, rode home to a hot shower and dry clothes, all before our phones started screaming out the severe weather warnings - tornados!
36 mile route was shortened to 21 in the rain.
My neighbor leading as we rode right past the entrance to our community. A few neighbors showed up to cheer the riders on as we set out.

I got showered on around 11am as well coming back from our Saturday morning group ride. Like you said it wasn’t supposed to start until late afternoon. That sounded like a nasty tornado that traveled just north of you.
We used to do training rides out of Spartanburg years ago. There are or at least used to be some good roads north of there.

103 miles on the Silver Comet/Chief Ladiga Trail from Smyrna, GA to Anniston, AL. Staying in a hotel tonight and will ride back to the van tomorrow.
Headwinds the last 50 miles, ugh. Vehicles did an incredible job of stopping at road crossings to let me pass. Unfortunately a van stopped for me but got rear ended by a pickup behind him that failed to stop.
I had my sandals strapped to the top of my rear bag. About 1/2 way I saw the shadow of the straps that were supposed to be holding the sandals on the bag were flapping loosely. The sandals had slipped off. So turned around and back tracked. Found one a couple miles back and the second one another half mile from there. This time I put the Velcro straps through the sandal straps.

Yesterday - 4/12 - 18+ miles on another sunny, windy day (15+ mph) in the low 60s. The first half of the ride was mainly uphill (slightly, and I do men slightly) against the wind, so the ride home was slightly downhill, pretty much with the wind at my back or rear quarter. I planned it that way, but sometimes the wind shifts.

Yesterday was a "27 mile recovery/errand ride" after Saturday's last minute decision 167 Mile One Day Cross Florida Ride failure. Had some food shopping and house watch checking out to do. Legs were tired and weak.
Only wound up completing 154 miles on Saturday. At mile 145 and final SAG unexpected 40mph winds rolled in along with a torrential downpour. Headed out into the winds when they let up A BIT but not so the rains. After 8 miles of riding soaking wet with cramping and freezing from temperature drop I pulled into a gas station and called my wife for the ride to motel. Considering I did not know the ride was on and did not train I am happy with what I accomplished.
p.s. -- it was also the 6th anniversary of beginning my Prostate Cancer Treatment having a Bilateral Orchiectomy.

Warmest day of the year and first 70*f, so a long slow distance (for me) seemed right. 50 steady miles. Up sunny E Lk Sammamish Rd to Marymoor Park Velodrome.

Lk Sammamish from East Lake Rd. Sunny side of the lake.
Velodrome at Marymoor Park Redmond WA.
Rides like a cloud. Metric R531 tubing from early 1970s (50+ qualified). 25mm, high TPI casings with latex tubes pumped 100/110psi for consistent pavement.

A couple of late March/ early April weekend group rides. I'm the tall guy on the old bike in orange then blue. Loving the warm spring weather and and sweet smells of jasmine, wisteria & honeysuckle. I'm riding 3 to 4 times per week but don't always have photos.

As good a destination as any
Red enough to feel sporty
Old enough to not feel too sporty.

Nope. Putting in a new garden. Dug 14 holes using pickaxe and shovel. Was too whipped to ride. Hav another 8 to go and then there is the ground cover which will be a couple dozen more. Then my wife will no doubt order another 6 yards of mulch, and crushed rock for the garden paths. After that I have a half acre of lawn to rehab, so there goes April. Hope to squeak in a few rides after my bike fit to see what kind of difference it made.

Caring for a 2 yo from waking til 2pm nap time only allowed for a bit of light maintenance and short, (what I call) joy rides in the afternoon. Two Daimlers in the neighborhood!

36 miles and met a great guy on his ride named Dave. We rode and chatted for 6 miles before we went our separate ways. I meet some really wonderful people out on the road.

108 miles with 4600’ of climbing. Fought energy sapping headwinds for 75 miles but at least there was a stretch of helping winds for 25 miles. I got to share a few minutes with my new donkey friend Gilbert. He loves peanut butter crackers and fig Newtons.
Lunch the footlong hot dog special
Daisies are peaking right now
Some stretches felt like riding in the mountains
Gilbert loves crackers!
Gilbert is a hoot!
