Just starting my latest weight lose journey.
6ft tall
June 1, 2016 225lbs
July 1, 2016 215lbs
I expect the weight lose with slow down quit a bit. The first month was just cutting out most processed foods and sugars. Eating more fresh vegetables and lean proteins.
I just started training for an upcoming century ride to add to my dietary changes.

I started bicycling seriously for the exercise and weight loss since I always hated gyms and knees/feet don't like running on concrete. I decided I never wanted to go over 210#(5'11") the other day, and cut out alcohol, got off the couch, and picked up an older road bike. I am down to 205# after 3 weeks of slowly building up my cycling routine. I have more energy and a better attitude these days as well, and it has been difficult keeping myself from doing to much to soon. My goal is to be below 180 by the fall holidays.

Finally seeing a 1 at the front of my weight for the first time in many years, 198-9 last 3 days. 2 inches dropped off my fat belly as well. It will be interesting this weekend since I will see family who last saw me a few months ago.

Hello all. I started riding about 2 months ago with the girlfriend, started with 5 and 6 mile rides now up to 40 miles. We have busy jobs and mostly can only ride Saturdays because GF has softball games on Sunday. Well i stooped eating donuts and crappie snacks and started eating a salad for lunch every day and so far have lost 13 pounds but just stooped losing weight but legs are leaner and my calf's look amazing lol Also lost a couple inches on my stomach and using different holes on my belt lol
No idea about the girlfriend because she will not discus her weight loss and i leave it at that because i don't want to sleep with the dog

Good morning. I started my weight loss some days ago. I'm between 6'0'' ang 6'1'' -I grown last year a bit- and 78 kilograms. I've always been from 67 -in form- or 72 -out of form-, but not more or less than that. (I've always been skinny but strong because I never trained volume but strength). Then I felt ill and lost a lot of kilos, being 60 kilograms only the last year. Last year I went to the gym and gained 10 kilograms (from 63 to 73) and left it because I had no time to train. Then, as it's obvious, I gained a couple of kilograms because I didn't move at all, weighting 78 kilograms. Now, I started losing weight the 18th of August -being 78 and a half- and I'm in 76.6 kilograms. I don't have a goal yet, but I'd like to go reach the short 70s.
Last year I went to 71-72 kilograms with a 13% of body fat -even a bit less- and 73 with almost a 15%. Now, I'm near the 20%'s so maybe 68 to 70 kilograms to be dry and then starting doing a bit of muscle would be amazing.
76.6 (02/09/2016).

A big mistake frequently made is consuming recovery snacks/drinks which will negate much of the calorie loss from the exercise. Track your calories using MyFitnessPal.com or similar sites.

I'm gonna keep this brief which I don't normally do lol
-I used to weigh 290/300 ish about a decade ago.
-I got down into the 170s over time.
-I'm now around 215-220.
-I plan to be in the 180s by the end of april.
In short, I'm looking to lose between 30-40lbs before the end of april.
Diet:
-I am cutting out all flour: bread/wheat/white/etc/etc/etc - everything with flour in it.
-Replacing my sugar cravings with honey/fruit
-I am lowering my intake of meat bc to me, meat = burger king or mcdonalds. sticking to beans/fish/eggs only. 5 guys/shake shack, im going to miss the F out of you both
- the only thing im drinking is water/coffee/soy milk. no juice/soda/etc.
wish me luck!

All I ate was ground turkey lettuce wraps, stopped eating around 6pm, rode everyday, 30 miles weekdays and 50-60 on friday, saturday and sunday.
It was not fun at all. I could have kept going but I was always light headed and passed out at a party.

highest ever 208lbs -> August 1st 2015 (when I started cycling)
lowest ever 155lbs -> April 21st 2016
I have since lowered my miles I ride but most of my rides are high intensity. I've been fluctuating around 158-161 since may last year so I'd say it's pretty stable now.

I've used cycling to help with weight loss in the past but not as the main method. I am 5'7" and started January 1, 2017 at 216.8 lbs. Didn't do any riding up to a few weeks ago. Decided to sign up for the STP (Seattle to Portland) in July with a few friends and the plan is to do it in one day. Now I have a goal to work towards. I'm currently down to 200.7 lbs and I honestly don't know a realistic weight for me to end at. I've dropped to 175-180 lbs before but know there is more room. Should be an interesting road ahead to see where this leads. My plan is to have my butt on the saddle as much as I can even if that means on the trainer in my room. Weather sucks up here so I spent 3.5 hrs the last 2 days on the trainer but I feel progress already. High hopes for the weight loss this year but more important maintaining it.

Feb 13 I was 207 lbs today I'm 174 lbs. 5'10 and 34 years old. I know a bit about nutrition so that was a huge aspect. I just got lazy and eating out of control and dialed it back in. Very little packaged food and low sugar. Basically perimeter of supermarket.

Hi, I am about 275 and 5ft9. I actually do not eat a ton because I had GBS about 5 years ago but because of medication I am on it made me gain my weight back. Not all of it.
I hate walking actually I hate most exercise. I work in front of a computer all day, bad thing. I dont eat candy or most sweet stuff because of having the GBS it will make me sick.
My problem is lack of movement.
Yesterday I got on a bike for the first time in 30 years and OMG. At least I didt fall. LOL Man I am weak. I could only ride around 10 mins.
I am going to ride every day though so I can increase and get my legs strong. I am going to get my own bike too this was a guys bike and a little tall for me.
Wanna get a 21 gear bike I think, this one is only 3
I really want to be able to ride 2-3 hours a day in a month or so. Its still a bit cold here and spring does not come really till May here.
I will take water and a protein bar with me when I start riding alot just in case. My sugar drops fast sometimes so I need something with me to eat just in case.
Thanks for reading.

If you're at 10 minutes right now ... I wouldn't expect to be up to 2-3 hours a day in a month's time.
A more realistic goal might be to get up to doing 30 minutes a day 4 days a week, and maybe 1 hour a day 2 days a week.
Then as your summer progresses, build up to 2-3 hours.
Also, try to incorporate exercise into your day.
Walk as part of your commute.
Walk at lunch.
Get up and climb stairs a couple times a day.
Just don't sit all day long.

I think 21 is the norm now?

10 speeds and 11 speeds are common.
But the 10 speeds of today are not the same as the 10 speeds you're thinking of. The 10 speeds of today refer to the cassette ... there are 10 gears in the cassette.
As for the chainrings, there are a few options ... single, double, triple, compact.
So what you know of as 21 speeds (7 x 3) are a thing of the past (like a decade or more ago) and what you are thinking of as a 10 speed are a thing of the distant past. It's a whole new world!

Ah ok. I live in Sweden now so the bikes here must be different than the US now.
I have a 3 speed which is considered the standard city bike. Everyone over here rides bikes and they have bike trails ect.
Its my husbands bike and its a bit too big for me but he wants to make sure I really want to do this before we go out and buy a
bike for me.

Hello! Never knew about this thread - I've been up and down with my weight for years but have managed to lose most through cycling. I'm trying not to focus solely on losing weight because that is an easy trap to get stuck in if you worry about stuff a lot. I've gone from 238 to somewhere around about 215-20 in 60 days using a calorie tracker and have been learning a great deal about nutrition and how to feed my body properly. My goal is to get to about 180lbs. That way I will spend less money on tyres and more time riding up hills. I seem to lose most weight when I stick to the daily goal of a 500 calorie deficit and have spent the winter on a trainer indoors doing intervals and stuff like that trying to balance it all out.

Wow that is great. I have been biking now for about 3wks and just the little I am doing I have lost 10lbs. I haven't biked in 30 years so I am still a bit scared and unsteady. Started on my husbands bike at first and then we went and bought one for me last money, a 21 gear. I have gotten the hang of the gears. Lucky where I live there are several little roads around with no traffic and we have bike trails here everywhere. I just have to practice my getting off that is where I have a little problem but its getting better every day. We also have winter here I am in sweden. We have had mild winters the past 4 years with not so much snow but it can be also the other way around. I live right at the Baltic sea about 45 mins south of Stockholm so you never know. My husband said he will bike with me this winter to the store and stuff. You can also get winter bike tires here just like the car ones which i prolly will do. I used to do nothing but bike up until I moved to Atlanta in my 20s. I loved it. I cant wait till I can bike to town and stuff. We live about 7 mins from the town and people bike all over here. I hate to walk so that is why I decided to try to bike again.

Fat Loss vs Weight Loss
There is a good ebook called Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle and when i was following that mentality towards eating, i had great results. You did not worry about what the scale, however you used fat calipers instead. You set your diet up and you would check your bf% in a week and if you see no change, you would change something minor with your food carb/protein/fat ratios. Kept at it foe three months, but you have to eat allot, 6 meals a day. A meal is considered to be at least a lean protein and a complex carb and need to be eaten together. By the time 6pm came around i had no desire to eat anything else, trust me. It might be on amazon, and it is not that expensive. It's at least worth the read, i learned a lot.
