gyeswho,
what size are those big apples? Did you have to modify your CC to fit the fender?

Jamis Sputnik, got it as a leftover '08 on clearance last week. Stock + TEKTRO front brake, Cane Creek lever, Surly 19T cog, Easton bullhorns, and Shimano PD-A520 pedals.

So keen to go ride that I couldn't take a few mins to clean the place up before shooting this pic and going out for the first time.

Wow, the Sputnik is such a clean bike. Did it really come in under 17 pounds?

The T1 is indeed sick, but I agree on new stem.

The wheelbase looks really long on the Jamis

I haven't weighed it, all I can say is that I bought it in part because I was shocked at how light it is when I picked it up in the shop. The Jamis website says 18.90 lbs, but I think that's without pedals, with fixed & freewheel cogs, and front & rear brakes, and drop bars. I have no idea how that would translate to my setup (kinda heavy pedals, only 1 cog, 1 brake, and bullhorns).

Could be. Any idea how I can tell definitively, like a date code in the serial # or something?

1022mm / 40.24" - decide for yourself if that's really long.

It's funny, when I bought it a week ago, I had unbridled lust for it. I was confused at reviews that said that the crankset is ugly. When I look at it now, I see what they mean. Also, that 19T cog looks kind of out of place and gross - it's so big. However, there's no way I can push a bigger gear around town - and I'm not yet prepared to burn out my legs everytime I get on the bike just so I can look at a pretty little rear cog.

for '08 they changed Sputnik font on the top tube and also the branding on the fork. I think the '08 still has the same fork but it has Jamis graphics on it.

Functionally I believe there is no difference but I just thought you might wanna be aware in case the shop was dishonestly sellling it to you as an '08.

Thanks - they didn't say anything to me about the year, just that they've had it in the shop for almost 1 year and they couldn't understand why nobody scooped it up sooner. I assumed from that that they got it as a new '08, but it could have been from the tail end of '07.

I got the frame from berlin and parts from all over the place. The crank is cheap as the frame set me back, so thats what I have untill I can get my hands on these: Suntour Superbe Pro

I have a black Brooks B17 Special and a old kashimax saddle, not sure which one I'll stick on it. And also I have been thinking about these pursuit bars:

My WIP:

Need to cut the steerer tube, put on the brake/cabling, and get pedals/chain/cog.

Still deciding where I want the stem at though, which is why I haven't cut the fork yet.

Tange headset/nitro dynamic 125 today and ordered the syntace stratos for the affinity. I'll have pictures when the forks cut down to size. Any suggestions on a classy wheelset?
